WEST SPRINGFIELD: Phyllis M. (Tuttle) Turcotte, age 96, (1925 – 2022) longtime resident of West Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Reeds Landing in Springfield. She was born and raised in Holyoke, daughter of the late Philip H. and Gertrude (Kane) Tuttle, was educated in Holyoke schools, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from UMASS Amherst. Phyllis worked at Mass Mutual and was a math teacher in the West Springfield school system before working as an office manager for the Mosher Company until her retirement in 1987. She was a faithful communicant of Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Springfield, and was a member of the Saint Thomas Senior Club, Holyoke Country Club, and the Ramapogue Women’s Club of West Springfield. Phyllis was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and an excellent golfer. She was the Woman’s Club champion at the Holyoke Country Club and amassed three holes-in-one during her golfing days. She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, tap dancing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Phyllis was the widow of Philip L. Turcotte, the love of her life, who predeceased her in 1994. She is survived by a son, Robert Turcotte and his wife Debra of West Springfield; two daughters, Carol Colla and her husband Wayne of South Windsor, CT, and Louise Arnold and her husband Thomas of Westfield. She cherished her six grandchildren: Jeffrey and Kristen Turcotte, Kevin, Kimberly and Gregory Colla, and Alicia Arnold. Besides her parents and her husband, Phyllis was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude McDonald and her grandson, Gregory Colla.
Her family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Arbors in Westfield, the Visiting Angels and the caregivers at Reeds Landing for their compassion and care for Phyllis.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis on Friday, January 28th at 11:00 am at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, followed by burial at Saint Thomas Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn at the church. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
