Phyllis (Zabielski) Stanisewski

WESTFIELD – Phyllis (Zabielski) Stanisewski, 82, (1941-2024) died peacefully on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at Agawam South Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Westfield to the late Vincent and Josephine (IwanickI) Zabielski.

Phyllis was a longtime employee of Big Y in Westfield. She loved going to Old Orchard Beach and the shores of Connecticut and Rhode Island. Phyllis loved her family picnics, especially the “cousins” ones. Phyllis loved to travel with her husband Bob and would always talk about the many cruises they enjoyed together. She was a lifelong and active communicant of Holy Trinity Church, Westfield. She served on many committees throughout the years. She was proudly awarded the St. Pius X Award from the church in 1986.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband of over 61 years, Robert P. Stanisewski, her loving children, daughter Teresa Gihon and her husband Bill, daughter Pamela Bruneau and son Stephen Stanisewski, all of Westfield. She also is survived by her loving grandchildren who all knew her as “Kiki.” Her grandchildren are: Alan Gihon of Westfield, Kate Velarde and husband Jorge, of Enfield CT, James McNiece and Eric McNiece of West Springfield. She also leaves her brother, Larry Zabielski, of Westfield. She had many cousins, a niece, nephews, along with many great friends from both her childhood and her days of working at the Big Y.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 7th, at 8:30 a.m. at the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Elm St. Westfield. Burial will follow the Mass in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 6th from 3-5 p.m. at Firtion Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ name may be made to either the Westfield Athenaeum, Grandmothers’ Garden of Westfield or the charity of one’s choice. www.firtionadams.com
