WESTFIELD – Westfield rallied from a 7-1 deficit with five runs in the bottom of the seventh of a high school baseball game Saturday, falling just a run short of forcing extra innings, 7-6, against Pittsfield at Bullens Field.
Carter Matthews (3 runs), Traverso (2 runs, RBI) and Hayden Harrington (2 RBIs) collected two hits apiece for Pittsfield, and Hunter Potash finished with a hit, a run, and three RBIs.
Anthony Clark and Aidan Dunn each went 2-for-3 for Westfield. Clark plated two runners and scored once.

St. Mary 8, Gateway 4
St. Mary jumped out to a 3-0, first-inning lead and stayed in the driver’s seat all game Saturday.
Jake Butler (2-for-4, 2 runs scored), Matt Masciadrelli (hit, walk, 2 runs), Shaun Gezotis (hit, run, RBI), John Daley (2-3, double, run, 3 RBIs), Hunter Authier (hit, run), Quinn Powers (2-3, run), and Drew Collins (hit) steered the St. Mary offense to victory.
Josh Webster (2-for-4, run, RBI), Jake McKittrick (2-4, RBI), Brett Turban (double, run), Shane Mastello (hit, run), Garrett Bean (hit, walk), Nathaniel Bushor (hit), Brett Bonenfant (walk), and Henry Nakaya (walk, sacrifice, RBI, run) led Gateway at the plate.

Bombers storm ahead
Westfield 12, South Hadley 8
Westfield stormed out of the gate with eight goals in the first half, limiting South Hadley to one in each of the first two quarters, and hung on for the victory.
Max Maggipinto fueled the Westfield attack with four goals and three assists, Landon Reyes contributed two goals and two assists, Matt Bonsall scored twice, and Kohl Lunardini finished with one goal and one assist. Chris Ward, Sullivan Webster, and Ryan Metcalf each had a goal for the Bombers. Carzello had one assist.
Westfield goalies Ryan Reed (6 saves) and Alex Beauchemin (4) shared duties in net.
