SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Police Department has issued an update on the five-car accident that occurred near 299 College Highway last Sunday afternoon at around 12:15 p.m.
According to Police Lt. Kevin Bishop, the first three vehicles involved in the accident were stopping northbound on College Highway, when the fourth vehicle, which police said was following too close, struck vehicle three, causing a chain reaction with the first and second vehicles. The fourth vehicle then crossed over the center line of the road and swiped the fifth car which was operating south-bound on College Highway.
The accident is still being investigated by Southwick Police with any potential charges still pending. Bishop also added that all five vehicles involved were towed from the scene.
Southwick first responders received mutual aid from Agawam and Westfield to assist with the many people involved in the accident.
