2:03 a.m.: assist other police department, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., WSU request the use of a caller for a person in protective custody, a cell monitor was provided;
2:10 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle stopped at a red light and when he stopped behind it the operator made a left turn without waiting for the light to change, the vehicle was stopped and a routine check revealed an outstanding warrant, Scott D. Ronalter, 38, of 12 Joyce Drive, was arrested on the warrant;
10:08 a.m.: vandalism, Bartlett Street, a community policing officer reports vandalism to a church located in a former social club, the CP officer reports that the complainant said that graffiti was found to have been spray painted on interior walls and furniture and other furniture had been disturbed and damaged, no sign of forcible entry was found, the incident remains under investigation;
1:59 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Chapel Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the operator’s license and the vehicle’s registration were both found to be expired, the vehicle was towed;
3:46 p.m.: assault, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, a pupil came to the station to complain he was assaulted by a classmate, the responding officer reports the complaint said that that when a classmate left a shop briefly he hid his hat and when the boy returned he became upset, the complainant said the other boy grabbed him by the throat, pushed him against a wall and demanded to know where his hat was;
4:00 p.m.: public service, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., the community policing supervisor reports that four persons younger than the legal drinking age were utilized to conduct compliance checks at eleven liquor stores in the city and four establishments failed the tests;
9:28 p.m.: recreational vehicle violation, Shaker Road at Laurel Avenues, a community policing officer reports he spoke with a male party who had been seen crossing and traveling on Shaker Road while operating an ATV, the officer learned that the operator does not have a valid learner’s permit or license to operating a motor vehicle, a criminal complaint was filed;
10:41 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he stopped a vehicle seen operating southbound in the northbound lane of Union Avenue, the officer reports that he observed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication about the man who declined to attempt a field sobriety test, a check revealed the man to be the subject of two outstanding warrants and the vehicle to have been reported stolen in Texas, the operator admitted taking the car from his former employer in Texas, a pre-tow inventory revealed two open containers of alcohol, Paul Philips, 39, of 411 Montgomery Road, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor (a third offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, operating with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation and on the two warrants, a passenger was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;
10:55 p.m.: disturbance, Edgewood Apartments, 134 Union St., a caller reports that a 16-year-old boy assaulted his mother, the responding officer reports the boy said that he may have unintentionally struck his mother while they were pushing each other but witnesses said that he punched her, the officer saw signs of injury, the juvenile boy was arrested for begin delinquent by reason of assault and battery in a domestic relationship and on an outstanding warrant;
11:56 p.m.: disturbance, Shepard Street, a caller reports a college aged party is disturbing her peace, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;

11:03 a.m.: fire, State Street, an off duty firefighter reports that controlled burning near the Cross Street playground is creating excessive smoke which is impacting children at the playground, the responding firefighters report the residents were asked to stop burning;
12:05 p.m.: fraud, Brenda Drive, a resident came to the station to report being victimized by an online scam, the responding officer reports the complainant said that a person who agreed to purchase a vehicle he offered for sale online required that he send money to pay for transport of the vehicle to the out-of-state buyer and when the seller complied he found himself unable to make further contact with the putative buyer;
12:42 p.m.: larceny, Union Avenue, a caller reports flowers were stolen from the front steps of a business overnight, the responding officer reports the complainant said that flowers valued at almost $400 were stolen between 5:30 Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday;
12:58 p.m.: fire, Russellville Road, a caller reports a possible brush fire at the fairgrounds, the responding fire captain report that the controlled burn was in conformation with burning regulations and was allowed to continue;
2:46 p.m.: disturbance, Scenic Road, a caller reports a family argument has become physical, the responding officer reports the resident said that his 19-year-old daughter struck his head repeatedly during an argument, the officer noted marks on the man’s head, the woman said that she stuck her father when he tried to prevent her from leaving, Annie Chen, 19, of 65 Scenic Road, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
9:23 p.m.: larceny, Crown Street, a caller reports his girlfriend stole his prescription medication, the responding officer reports the man said he found his bottle of prescription analgesics empty, the officer reports the man also said that he habitually hides his medications in his residence and once found medicine he had previously reported to have been stolen.
