8:12 a.m.: Accident, Crown Street. Police received a report of a fire hydrant that had reportedly been knocked down on Crown Street. Police had no incidents logged of any crash at the scene and no other information.
5:19 p.m.: Abnormal behavior and arrest, S and S Mart, Franklin Street. Police received a request for a well-being check on a man with a child who “appeared disheveled and under the influence of something.” Police then also received a report of an alleged robbery at the S and S Mart, as well as a report of the child being left in front of another address. Police arrived and found that John D. Lamountain, 40, of Westfield, who had reportedly gotten behind the counter and allegedly “barricaded himself” behind a door. Additional officers were requested and police gained access and Lamountain allegedly charged at the officer, “making contact with the officer,” according to police. Lamountain was eventually tasered according to police, and had allegedly resisted arrest while on the ground. The child was reportedly with bystanders, who waited for police, and police arrested Lamountain and charged him with reckless endangerment to a child, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest.
