8:38 a.m.: harassment, Shaker Road, a resident came to the station to complain of harassing text messages, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he has been receiving a huge volume of text messages which were benign at first but have progressed to hostile and threatening, the officer reports he spoke with the suspect who agreed to stop sending text messages to the complainant;
9:13 a.m.: vandalism, Riverside Drive, a caller reports that her vehicle was egged overnight, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had had an ongoing argument by text messages with a known party and believes her to be responsible for the eggs on her car, the officer reports he was not able to immediately contact the suspect;
1:28 p.m.: fire, Fairway Condominiums, 549 Russell Road, a caller reports a fire behind the building near the river, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports he observed a large cloud of smoke and found the entire wooded area near the river was burning, the responding firefighters report the fire was extinguished, the firefighters report that hundred of cigarette butts were found in the area and opine that the fire was caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette;
1:32 p.m.: arrest, a detective reports that her investigation into an April 17 incident at a north side warehouse revealed that a worker had struck another with bolt cutters during an argument causing three broken ribs and a collapsed lung, Jose R. Torres, 51, of 223 Main St., West Springfield, was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon;
2:47 p.m.: breaking and entering, Meadow Street, a resident came to the station to report his vehicle was broken into while it was at a repair facility, the responding officer reports the complainant said that when he collected his vehicle after it was serviced he found his GPS device and sunglasses had been stolen, an employee of the facility said that workers had forgotten to lock the vehicle while it was stored outside, the company’s security video will be reviewed;
5:13 p.m.: accident, North Elm Street, a caller reports a crash involving a motorcycle, the responding officer reports the motorcyclist said that she was southbound on North Elm Street when a vehicle turned into her path, the northbound operator said that when did not see the motorcycle when she turned left at the light at Notre Dame Street, the motorcycle operator was transported to Noble Hospital where she was treated and admitted, no information was available about her condition Friday morning;
6:31 p.m.: breaking and entering, West Silver Street, a call reports her home was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that a wide variety of electronic devices and jewelry were stolen, the officer found that entry was gained via a window;
8:05 p.m.: larceny, Sadie Knox Playground, 50 Prospect St., a resident came to the station to report that her son’s cell phone was stolen in the playground, the responding officer reports he was told that the boy left the phone and $5 in cash on a bench and returned to find the phone gone although the money was still there;
8:14 p.m.: disturbance, Root Road at North Road, an off duty officer reports persons in the area may be firing a gun, the responding officer reports two fishermen were advised of the complaint, the fishermen had a fire which they extinguished and agreed to stop playing with a BB gun they had been amusing themselves with.
