12:18 a.m.: trespassing, Half Mile Falls Park, two persons were seen in the park and the responding officer identified three college students one of whom said he was looking for a good fishing spot, the three young men were advised that city parks and playground close at dusk, the trio said they were unaware of the ordinance and apologized;
2:10 a.m.: suspicious damage, Apremont Way, a patrol officer reports he observed a hole in the side of a commercial building that appears as if the metal siding had been pried back and a hole created, the officer reports further investigation revealed the building to be secure and the damage apparently the result of a tractor trailer unit backing into the building;
8:12 a.m.: lost property, Springfield Road, a New Jersey resident reports via the online reporting option that she lost her purse, the woman wrote that she realized she had left it inside a Springfield Road department store while shopping and could not find it when she returned to look for it;
8:56 a.m.: vandalism, rail trail, South Broad Street, a caller from the DPW reports vandalism to a vehicle access point of the rail trail, the responding officer reports the lock and chain which had secured the gate are missing and the gate and adjacent grass area have been damaged, apparently by a vehicle;
9:00 a.m.: suspicious property, Main Street, Springfield, a detective reports that while checking area pawn shops for stolen merchandise he noticed that a person known to him from previous larceny investigations had pawned property, the property was found to have been stolen, the case remains under investigation;
11:48 a.m.: officer wanted, Sackett Road, a resident came to the station to complain that her car was stolen, the responding officer reports that he found the vehicle had been repossessed;
1:32 p.m.: fire, East Mountain Road, a caller reports odor of an electrical fire in the wall, the responding fire captain reports that a small electrical fire in the wall was extinguished and the resident was advised to consult an electrician;
2:26 p.m.: assist citizen, Westwood Drive, a caller requests an officer to keep the peace while he gathers some property at the address, the responding officer reports he stood by as the man removed some items in the presence of the woman;
2:29 p.m.: breaking and entering, Moseley School, 25 Dartmouth Street, a caller reports that youths have entered the vacant school, the responding officer reports he found five youths exiting the school who were identified, the boys said they had been playing basketball when they noticed an open door and decided to explore, the parents of the boys were advised and they were warned about the seriousness of their intrusion, a city official was summoned to secure the building;
3:01 p.m.: found property, Chapman Playground, St. Paul Street, a person came to the station to surrender a cellphone reportedly found at the playground, the responding officer reports the owner of the phone could not be determined and it was stored for safekeeping;
8:03 p.m.: motor vehicle fire, 67 Maple Terrace, officer reports fire in engine compartment of a Ford F-250 truck, vehicle owner was working on vehicle earlier in day;
8:38 p.m.: motor vehicle collision with injury, North Road, witnesses report eastbound vehicle, being operated without headlights, crossed over center of roadway and collided with the driver’s side of a westbound vehicle, both motorists transported to Holyoke Hospital for treatment, both vehicle towed from scene.

7:29 a.m.: property found, subject cane to police headquarters to report finding a wallet, officer reports initial attempts to notify owner unsuccessful, will continue effort to contact property owner;
10:06 a.m.: hit and run accident, 84 Orange Street, officer reports vehicle being backed out of 85 Orange St. came into contact with vehicle parked on street in front of 84 Orange St., incident remains under investigation;
12:26 p.m.: breaking and entering, 5 Montgomery St., caller reports residence entered and prescription medications taken, officer reports incident remains under investigation;
1:02 p.m.: property found, caller reports an ID was found at the Big Y at 475 East Main St., officer reports identification returned to owner;
3:19 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Springfield Road, officer reports vehicle operator collided with the rear of the vehicle in front which had stopped at traffic control light, both vehicles towed, no injuries reported;
4:17 p.m.: counterfeiting, Cumberland Farms, 1134 Southampton Road, clerk reports patron paid gas bill with five $10 bills, clerk did not immediately check the bills, one of which was handed out to another patron as change, but became suspicious and later requested assistance of a patrol officer, counterfeit bills turned over to custody of officer;
4:45 p.m.: officer wanted, arrest, 126 Union St., caller reports man used her motor vehicle without authority, officer reports caller’s 2014 Chevrolet was damaged by man, damage estimated at $2,000, Glenn P. Young, 39, of 126 Union St., taken into custody on an active court warrant, also charged with use of a motor vehicle without authority of owner and defacement/vandalism to property.

1:56 a.m.: assist other police agency, Western Avenue, Westfield State University police report a suspicious activity incident at residence, three men between 19 and 22 years old have several street signs and other signs in the back of a pick-up truck, officer reports signs appear to be property of Southwick and Granby Conn., police and public works departments in those communities notified to recover their property, information pertaining to the three subjects given to police investigators in both communities;
10:14 p.m.: larceny, 29 School St., caller reports two purses, one containing $800, were stolen from patrons of restaurant, under investigation.
