Emergency response and crime report

12:29 a.m.: suspicious activity, area of Woodmont Street, caller reports three men with flashlights are looking into motor vehicles and yards, officer reports three subjects located and identified, looking for a missing cat;
8:53 a.m.: disturbance, Orange Street, patrol officer reports hearing an explosion, officer searched area and discovered that explosion was caused by a motor vehicle backfire which damaged the exhaust system.
10:36 a.m.: motor vehicle accident, B&B Auto, 28 Mechanic St., multiple callers report a vehicle collision in the parking lot of a business, officer reports motorist lost control of his vehicle which struck a parked vehicle;
3:16 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Springdale Road, caller reports a roll-over accident, no apparent injury, officer reports a 2000 Ford commercial vehicle carrying a load of wood chips and registered to Arbortech Tree Services of East Longmeadow, officer reports that the truck was and towing a 2005 Verme Construction Chipper, officer reports Springdale Road closed to traffic between Union Street and Dry Bridge Road while Interstate Towing removes truck, two company dispatched a heavy-lift tow truck, a front end loader, a Hazmat team and two other tow trucks, officer reported road opened for through traffic at 6:03 p.m.:
3:54 p.m.: fire, structure, 138 Rider Road, caller reports garage fire, dual police and fire response, Engines 3 and 4, ambulance, Deputy Chief, police sergeant, patrolmen and two detectives dispatched, fire gutted garage, damage estimated at $25,000, fire also damaged vinyl siding of residence, investigators determined that cause of fire was resident of neighboring property burning brush and losing control of the fire, deputy chief issued a citation for burning brush without a permit which would have required notifying the Fire Department;
4:40 p.m.: larceny, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad St., caller reports theft of a pocketbook containing cash, identification and a pair of sunglasses, property was left unattended while reporting party worked in different areas of church;
5:06 p.m.: suspicious activity, 18 McKinley Terrace, caller reports a person down, dual police and fire response, ambulance and fire engine dispatched, patrol officer cancelled fire response, reports finding the lower half of a dummy which appeared staged to elicit emergency response, services rendered;
10:13 p.m.: disturbance, arrest, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, caller reports a disturbance on-going in a neighboring apartment, officer reports observing broken furniture and upon further investigation discovered a male who was subject to a trespass warrant for that local was present, Jonathan L. Westbrook, 25, of 76 Davis Road, Southwick, arrested on charges of trespassing after notice and resisting arrest, Westbrook was located concealed under a mattress in the basement, officer reports a female attempted to assist Westbrook flee by jumping onto the back of one of the responding officers, Caitlain G. Lami, 29, of 50 Southampton Road charged with assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
