Major crime and incident report

9:54 a.m.: Motor vehicle accident, Union Street and Springdale Road. Police received a report of a minor accident involving a 2006 Volvo XC90 and a 2013 Nissan van. There were no injuries reported and police reported no tow trucks.

12:42 p.m.: Motor vehicle accident, East Main Street. Police reported an accident that happened here that involved a 2016 Infiniti M35 and a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country. The driver of the Infiniti had an apparent medical emergency, which caused her to cross over the median and strike the Town and Country. Three people were transported to local hospitals by Westfield Fire. See related story in the Aug. 4th Westfield News.

4 p.m.: Breaking and entering and arrest, Prospect Street. Police reported that a father and son found that a youth was attempting to break into their home. Police said that they allegedly chased the youth, who had reportedly stolen $100, and were able to detain him until police arrived. See related story in the Aug. 5th Westfield News.

7:09 p.m.: Suspicious activity, Springfield Road. Police reported that there was a male at a location on Springfield Road that was acting suspicious. Police investigated the matter and reported that he had possibly stolen a bike. Police arrested Anthony Bushway, 42, of Springfield, and charged him with shoplifting by asportation and walking or riding on a railroad track.

11:17 p.m.: Disturbance, Stony Lane. Police received a report of a group of approximately ten youths yelling, arguing and swearing in the roadway. Police arrived and took a report, but no arrests were made.
