Police Log, August 10 & 11, 2012

Friday, Aug 10, 2012
3:25 p.m.: motor vehicle accident with personal injury, Montgomery Road, officer reports motorist traveling south and lost control of her 1999 Honda on the rain-slicked roadway near intersection of Russellville Road, colliding with a utility pole, police, firefighters and paramedics dispatched, motorist, identified as Karen Anne Zien of 178 Tappan St., Brookline, Mass., was transported to the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where she was treated for her injuries and later released, vehicle was towed from scene, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified of damage to utility pole;
4:27 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Northwest Road, caller reports vehicle slid off rain-slicked roadway into a ditch and rolled over, officer reports no injuries to the two occupants, officer requesting a two truck and Fire Department pumper truck to assist with removal of the vehicle;
6:11 p.m.: breaking and entering a motor vehicle, 244 Granville Road, citizen came to station to report that his 1997 Ford F-150 was entered and an Ipod and cash taken, officer reports entry made through rear sliding window which was forced open;
8:35 p.m.: assist other agency, Shenanigan’s Pub, 150 Elm St., officer reports being requested by state police detective to check for a white 1995 Ford van involved in an assault in Southampton, officer located the van, gang task force notified and will not be responding to that location;
9:55 p.m.: suspicious activity, Southampton Road, caller reports a male in his early 20s, accompanied by the boy of about seven or eight years of age, is walking down Falcon Drive, both are carrying backpacks, caller reports seeing the two subjects earlier in the day in Southampton, officer reports locating and identifying the two parties, a male and female who were given courtesy transport to Northwest Road because of concerns for their well being, officer reports subjects were wearing dark clothing and that it was raining heavily;
10:29 p.m.: loitering, Broad Street, caller requests well being check of subjects sleeping behind the First Congressional Church, officer reports speaking with three male subjects who were taking a rest and trying to stay out of the rain, subjects sent on their way.

Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012
1:48 a.m.: breaking and entering, Mechanic Street, caller reports a vacant building is being entered, officers report all appears to be secure and nobody was on the property;
3:08 a.m.: suspicious activity, arrest, Whitney Playground, patrol officer reports locating a vehicle and a female who stated she was alone, officer observed a blanket on the ground with beverage containers and food, officer requested three subjects hiding in the woods to come out, a second female came out of the woods, two males fled the scene on foot, officer checked the vehicle and found that the registration plate was reported stolen by a Springfield resident, officer also found a set of brass knuckles, both females taken into custody, Jordan J. Hanlon, 24, of 502 West Cherry Ave., Flagstaff, Ariz., charged with trespassing, possession of a dangerous weapon and receiving stolen property, Leila A. St. Jean, 19, of 25 Fox Hill Drive charged with trespass;
