Major crime and incident report
Tuesday, August 11, 2015

8:19 a.m.: suspicious, Yankee Circle, resident reported finding several items, including a Park Square Realty for sale sign and lawn ornaments (not hers) and orange RHW construction cones strewn around her lawn;
8:42 a.m.: accident, City Hall, 59 Court St., one person transported to Noble Hospital, one vehicle towed;
10:21 a.m.: weather complaint, 20 Pleasant St., tree down in the roadway;
10:51 a.m: downed limb, Feeding Hills Road, services rendered;
11:46 a.m.: animal complaint, 354 Falley Drive, resident reported a bear was in her fenced in backyard; police couldn’t locate bear;
12:29 p.m.: animal complaint, Lawton Ave., resident reported seeing a bear in the area of Lawton Avenue, then the bear was seen on Cranston Street, and lastly seen on Yeoman Avenue; police couldn’t locate bear;
1:18 p.m.: two-vehicle accident, 30 Bartlett St. at 86 Mechanic St., no injuries, two vehicles towed;
1:30 p.m.: downed lines, Russell Road, motorist reported a fire from the wires, but neither Westfield nor Russell State Police could find downed lines or a fire; Russell checked for a trash fire along the railroad tracks;
1:40 p.m.: animal complaint, Elm Motel, 50 Russell Road, caller reported seeing a bear crossing the street; officer could not locate bear;
2:06 p.m.: animal complaint, 39 Western Ave., large black bear seen in resident’s backyard, again police could not locate bear;
2:39 p.m.: two-vehicle accident, Family Dollar, 51 Franklin St., minor property damage;
3:50 p.m.: animal complaint, 85 Valley View Drive, officer to search for “‘Yogi the bear’ that has been eluding her all day;” bear not located again;
7:13 p.m.: larceny, Great River Bridge Northbound, Union Avenue, caller reported two longboards, valued at $200 each, were stolen.
