12:45 a.m.: arrest, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a known party he believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the warrant was confirmed, Steven P. Bilodeau, 43, of 27 Collins St., was arrested on the warrant;
10:37 a.m.: armed robbery, East Silver Street, a caller reports an armed robbery, see story in the Saturday edition of The Westfield News;
11:05 a.m.: assist citizens, Russell Road, a traffic bureau officer reports that he and an auxiliary officer escorted a peleton of bicycle riders on Route 20 from the Russell border to the West Springfield line;
12:21 p.m.: arrest, East Main Street, an officer searching for a suspect in an armed robbery reports he observed a person who partially fit the description of the suspect, the officer reports a routine check revealed the man to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Melvin Eugene Sanders, 50, of 122 Chestnut St., Springfield, was arrested on the warrant;
2:24 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller reports money was stolen from her purse in a store’s changing room, the responding officer reports he met the caller who said that she had inadvertently left her purse in a changing room and when she returned saw another woman leaving the changing room, the victim said that she found more than $200 missing from her purse and she accosted the woman who allowed her to examine her property but the money was not found, the victim pointed out the other woman who told the officer that she had seen the purse in the changing room but had not touched it, the woman allowed the officer to also inspect her property and again the cash was not found;
2:31 p.m.: larceny, Southampton Road, a business owner called to report the theft of scrap metal, the responding officer reports the caller said that the arm of a street lamp type parking lot light stored behind his building was stolen, the officer reports the caller provided a registration plate number for a vehicle believed to have transported the stolen item;
4:26 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
5:02 p.m.: assist citizen, Main Street at Free Street, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by a man who said that he had left his phone in a restaurant bathroom and pointed out a man who he said was the only other person to use the bathroom after he did, the officer reports the other man allowed him to examine his property and the phone was not found;
5:59 p.m.: vandalism, St. Paul Street, a caller reports her car was keyed while she was out, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had been out to dinner and returned to find her vehicle had been vandalized;
6:05 p.m.: found property, East Mountain Road a caller reports he found two shotgun shells near to his house and want them to be properly disposed of, the responding officer reports the ammunition was transported to the station;
7:30 p.m.: larceny, Stanley Park, 400 Western Avenue, a West Granville resident came to the station to complain that her iPad was stolen from her vehicle while she was at the park, the responding officer reports the woman said that after she returned to her home from a visit to the park’s playground area and found her iPad missing and a rear window was open, there were not signs of forcible entry.
