8:08 a.m.: fraud, Granville Road, a resident came to the station to complain she has been dunned of payment for a cable television account opened in her name without her knowledge, the responding officer reports the woman said that she learned that the account was opened in Greenfield and said that she has never lived there;
8:24 a.m.: larceny, Westfield Industrial Park Road, a caller reports security video shows persons stealing scrap metal at a business, the responding officer reports the caller said that a copper and aluminum coil was removed from an outside air conditioning unit during business hours Monday and the theft was captured on security video, the video will be reviewed by the detective bureau;
9:44 a.m.: found property, Chapman Playground, St. Paul Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a wallet her son found in Chapman Playground, the responding officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the owner of the wallet and it was transported to the station for safe keeping;
11:17 a.m.: vandalism, Elm Street, an employee of an Elm Street store reports a male party ripped one of the numerals of the street number from the building, the responding officer reports the caller said that he believes a person who has previously been served with a ‘No trespassing’ order for the store is responsible, the officer reports the numeral was found a short distance away, the incident was referred to the Traffic Bureau;
11:21 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Broad Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating with an expired inspection sticker and stopped the pickup truck, the officer reports the operator said that he recently lost his wallet and identified himself verbally, the officer reports the information provided elicited a photo which did not match the operator and when challenged he admitted that he had provided a relative’s information, the officer reports that the operator’s right to operate was found to have been revoked, a criminal complaint was filed and the truck was towed to the police impound yard;
3:16 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Washington Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration as found to be expired and it was towed to the police impound yard;
7:34 p.m.: burning complaint, Granville Road, a caller reports black smoke in the area of Horton Bridge, the responding officer reports a resident was found to be burning and agreed to extinguish the fire after he was advised of the pertinent regulations;
8:56 p.m.: larceny, McKinley Terrace, a resident came to the station to report the registration plate was stolen from his vehicle, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the plate was stolen from the motorcycle while it was parked on McKinley Terrace;
11:56 p.m.: found property, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., a patrol officer reports she discovered a check in the cruiser she was preparing to use during her shift.
