8:30 a.m.: animal complaint, Linden Avenue, a caller reports a skunk is swimming in her pool, the responding officer reports he was able to remove the skunk from the pool but it didn’t move much or leave the caller’s yard, the responding animal control supervisor reports the skunk recovered and left the area;
12:38 p.m.: motor vehicle complaint, East Silver Street, a store manager called to report that a pickup truck spilled a large amount of gas in the store’s parking lot, the responding officer reports store personnel spread cat litter to absorb the gas and contacted an oil recovery company, the officer reports he spoke with the owner of the truck who said that the truck leaked about a gallon of fuel while he was shopping in the store;
1:41 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a supermarket worker reports an uncooperative shoplifter has been detained in the store, the responding officer reports the caller said that the customer appeared to be intentionally bagging items that the cashier had not recorded, the customer paid for all her merchandise;
4:11 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a routine check of a vehicle seen exiting Neck Road showed that the pickup truck had failed inspection and that its registration had been cancelled, the pickup was stopped on Springfield Road and the officer observed many rolls of wire in the bed, the operator said that he has permission to scavenge wire from a local company’s refuse container, the officer reports he will investigate that claim, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
4:22 p.m.: animal complaint, Union Avenue, a caller reports she has taken custody of a stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
5:10 p.m.: disturbance, Greenwood Avenue, a caller reports her mother struck her, the responding officer reports both the 17-year-old girl and her mother agree that an argument developed while the two parties were traveling in a vehicle and that the girl attempted to jump from the moving vehicle but was restrained, each claims the other assaulted her but neither cares to pursue criminal charges;
6:09 p.m.: officer wanted, Monroe Street, a caller reports a known person locked her out of her house, the responding officer report the caller said that she was asleep when a known man came to her residence and when she answered the door he maneuvered her outside and then locked her out of the residence, the officer reports the man had left the area, a criminal complaint was filed;
6:24 p.m.: larceny, Cedar Lane, a patrol officer report she was flagged down by a resident who asked to report a past larceny, the officer reports the woman said that between 10 p.m. and midnight on Monday lawn ornaments were stolen;
6:41 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller reports a shoplifter has been detained in a drug store, the responding officer reports the caller said that a man attempted to steal over-the-counter baby medicine, the suspect said that could not pay for medication the baby with him needs, the man was served a ‘No trespassing’ order;
7:22 p.m.: fire, Ward Road, a caller reports trees are on fire, dual response dispatched, the responding firefighters report a small brush fire was extinguished, the responding supervisory officer reports that the caller said that two young children ran from the area, the officer spoke with two boys aged 10 and 11 who said that one had started a campfire and they fled when it began to spread, the officer reports he spoke with the boys about the danger of fire and spoke with the mother of one of the boys;
8:49 p.m.: larceny, Washington Street, a caller reports that a known person stole several items, the responding officer reports the caller said that the suspect has been arrested on other charges and left her phone behind, the caller said that she and another victim examined the phone and found pictures of their stolen property on the phone.
