9:26 a.m.: Breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, Third Avenue. police received a report of belongings that may have been stolen out of a vehicle. The items, which included a handicap placard and an insurance card, were noticed missing on this day, but could have happened earlier. Incident is under investigation.
11:48 a.m.: Accident, Elm Street. Police received a report from an animal control officer that they may have struck another vehicle’s sideview mirror. No further information.
2:35 p.m.: Accident, West Silver Street. Police received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a 2009 Nissan Altima and a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. The accident was reportedly minor and no injuries were reported.
4:09 p.m.: Breaking and entering, Phelps Avenue. Police received a report of a possible break-in and theft at a residence on Phelps Avenue.. According to the resident, the home was broken into through the basement and upon investigating they found that $10 in change, a bank card and a computer tablet were allegedly stolen. Police had no method of entry into the home and no witnesses. Police are investigating.
6:38 p.m.: Shoplifting, Walmart, Springfield Road. Police received a report from an employee at Walmart that a person attempted to conceal merchandise in their purse and leave through the self-checkout lanes. She was reportedly stopped by the employee and detained until police arrived. No arrest was made but the woman was trespassed from the store.
10:02 p.m.: Well-being check and arrest, Walmart, Springfield Road. Police received from an off-duty officer a report that a person was hunched over the steering wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot. Police arrived and noticed an odor of alcohol. Police arrested Michael J. Orszulak, 30, of Enfield, and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
