9:30 a.m.: abandoned vehicle, North Elm Street, a business owner reports a vehicle has been parked in his lot for two days and is obstructing his customers, the officer reports he was able to reach the registered owner by phone who was out of town and said his wife had control of the car, the owner was advised that the car would be towed from the private property where it was parked, the car was towed;
10:37 a.m.: vandalism, Egelston Road, a caller reports that his plastic mailbox was smashed, apparently by a baseball bat, the man does not require a formal report but wants the vandalism documented;
10:46 a.m.: larceny, Otis Street, a caller reports that copper piping has been stolen from a house he recently bought, the responding officer reports that the caller said that he had recently purchased the house and said that when he happened to go down to the basement he found that copper piping had been removed, the man said that basement window was found to have been broken and the cellar hatch was found to be ajar;
11:49 a.m.: assist resident, a resident came to the station to surrender his firearm in compliance with a letter received from the police chief;
2:28 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
6:15 p.m.: suspicious activity, City Hall, 59 Court St., a caller reports he heard what he believed to be skateboarders in the City Hall parking lot yelling obscenities and breaking things, the responding officer reports that he found two skateboarders in the middle of the parking lot who were not damaging any property but did acknowledge shouting obscenities, the two parties were sent on their ways without incident;
6:32 p.m.: officer wanted, Russell Road, a convenience store clerk reports an intoxicated man with a small child is harassing customers asking for a ride, the responding office reports he was able to find a relative on Summer Street who agreed to care for the man and child who were provided a courtesy transport to her address;
10:08 p.m.: officer wanted, East Silver Street, a caller from a Silver Street nursing facility reports a resident’s son came to visit his mother and after he left staff discovered a white powder in her bathroom, the responding officer reports a very small amount of powder was found which was too small to test, a representative of the management said that they do not want the man (who is known to police) to visit again, the staff was advised to call police if he returns so a ‘No trespassing” order can be served, see 9:40 a.m. Saturday entry;
10:08 p.m.: officer wanted, Hundred Acres Road, a caller initially reported that the operator of a pickup truck may be illegally dumping in the ‘tin bridge’ area but called again to say he thinks youths have a bonfire in the area, the responding officer reports a fire was located in the area of Ponders Hollow and Birch Bluff, a teenaged male was found in a parked vehicle who emitted an odor of alcohol but did not appear to be intoxicated, the youth’s parents were advised and responded to retrieve their son and his vehicle.
