9:40 a.m.: officer wanted, East Silver Street, a caller from a Silver Street nursing facility reports a troublesome visitor has returned and requests assistance serving a ‘No trespassing’ order, the responding officer reports the order was served in-hand and the man was advised of the consequences of violation of the order;
12:28 p.m.: disturbance, Main Street, a caller from a Man Street drug store reports a customer who is believed to have been shoplifting is creating a disturbance, the responding officer reports the agitated man appeared to be under the influence of some sort of narcotic and the store manager asked that he be issued a ‘No trespassing’ order, the responding officer reports the order was served in-hand;
2:19 p.m.: vandalism, Western Avenue, a caller reports that both vehicles parked in his driveway were vandalized overnight, the responding officer reports the man said that the vehicles were intact at about midnight but in the morning he found that the gas tank access doors had been removed from both cars which are both the same model;
3:18 p.m.: animal complaint, Church Street, a caller reports that while she was walking her dog another dog attacked them but did not inflict any injuries, the responding animal control officer reports that although the dog is not licensed it is up-to-date with the required rabies vaccination, the dog owner was given a deadline to have her dog licensed and apologized to the caller who was satisfied;
5:25 p.m.: arrest, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a patrol officer reports a routine check of an unfamiliar vehicle parked at the complex revealed that the owner of the car was the subject of an outstanding warrant, the officer viewed an image of the owner and recognized him as a person he had seen at the complex, the officer sought the man at the apartment where he had been last seen and found him there, Kyle T. Merlini, 28, of 27 Fred Jackson Road, Southwick, was arrested on the warrant;
6:27 p.m.: found property, Harvest Moon Lane, a caller reports a bike has been abandoned on her property all day, the responding officer reports the bike was transported to the station for safekeeping;
9:59 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street home improvement store reports a vehicle which stayed in the store’s parking lot the night before has returned and parked, the responding officer reports he found that the operator is homeless and sleeps in his vehicle, the store manager was advised and asked that the man leave which he did without incident;
10:31 p.m.: vandalism, Munger Hill Road, a caller reports two vehicles parked at his home were struck with paint, the responding officer reports he found that the incident was a prank between friends and the washable car paint was removed without damage to either car.
