1:34 a.m. Motor vehicle violation and arrest. Rotary, Pochassic Street. Police reported that a motor vehicle almost struck police cruiser, pulled vehicle over for speeding. Police arrested Rene Hernandez, 22, of Springfield, for unlicensed operation of a vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding greater than reasonable.
2:36 a.m. Accident, Little River Road and Pontoosic Road. Police received a report of a Chevrolet Trailblazer that appeared to be “smashed up” from a single-car accident. Officer responded to find a vehicle with hazard lights on and no occupants. Police reported a strong odor of alcohol in vehicle. Police attempted to contact owner, but contact was not made, according to the report. Vehicle towed from the scene and the incident is under investigation.
1:16 p.m. Illegal trash disposal, Municipal Parking Lot, Franklin Street. Open trash bag discovered with name and address on envelope inside, according to police. Suspect was questioned and agreed to clean up the trash, according to police.
