2:50 a.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, Elm Street and Meadow Street. Police reported that a random query of a license plate revealed that Leonard H. Cox, Jr., was allegedly driving with a license suspended. Police arrested Cox on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended.

4:07 a.m.: Vandalism, Frederick Street. Police received a report of a rock that was thrown through a resident’s window on Frederick Street. Police reported that there were no witnesses to the vandalism.

6:10 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, Russell Road and Berkshire Avenue. Police initially stopped a vehicle after they reported that it was observed speeding, including on radar. Police went to the vehicle and, according to police, allegedly saw the passenger in the vehicle “kicking something on the floor.” Police reportedly saw small plastic bags on the floor and reported that they found that the bags allegedly contained heroin. In addition, police reported an unreported amount may have been thrown out of the window. Police reported that 76 bags of heroin were found. Police arrested Justin Hannigan, 35, of Southwick, and charged him with possession of class A drug–subsequent offense, and also arrested Brian M. Giesing, 35, of Soutwick, and charged him with possession of class A drug.

8:29 p.m.: Police received a report of three hostages at a location on South Maple Street, according to the police records, and that the person was allegedly demanding money. Police reported that this turned out to be a prank phone call, but did not report any further information.
