Monday, Feb. 11, 2013
1:24 a.m.: disturbance, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a caller reports he attempted to visit his child and his former girlfriend will not let him leave, the responding officer reports the two parties were engaged in an argument and were separated, the man left the area without further incident;
3:42 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have registration revoked for lack of insurance, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
7:42 a.m.: city ordinance violation, callers reports sidewalks have not been cleared on Russell Road, Dana Street, Franklin Street and Union Street;
3:19 p.m.: larceny, Shaker Road, a call reports an ATM card is missing and has been fraudulently used, the responding officer reports that he learned that the card was last seen Jan. 22 and has been used about 30 times, the officer reports the victim has significant health issues and a variety of health care workers and family members have access to her residence, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
3:22 p.m.: larceny, Castle Hill Road, a resident came to the station to report a larceny from his truck, the responding officer reports the caller said that his unlocked truck was entered while it was parked in his driveway and cash was taken from his wallet;
5:40 p.m.: animal complaint, Steiger Drive, a caller reports he has taken custody of a male black Labrador retriever dog with a broken chain, the responding animal control officer reports the intact male dog wearing a blue collar with paw prints was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
6:41 p.m.: found property, Meadow Street, a resident came to the station with a pocketbook her son found in a communal trash container, the shift supervisor reports that the purse belongs to a Chicopee resident and Chicopee police report that the purse had been stolen from a store in their city;
8:16 p.m.: assist citizen, Notre Dame Street, a resident came to the station with her son who she said was under the influence of an hallucinogenic tea he purchased from a web site, the desk officer reports the shift supervisor advised the woman that the substance was not illegal and suggested she take her son to the hospital;
9:29 p.m.: breaking and entering, Orange Street, a caller from an Orange Street business reports a theft from his office, the responding officer reports the caller said that between noon and 3 p.m. two phones were stolen from the desk in his office, the victim said that a security camera was not operating at the time because the electrical power to the office was shut off and he suspects a family member is responsible, the case was referred to the detective bureau;

7:52 a.m.: assist citizen, Shaker Road, a caller reports his girlfriend has locked her keys inside her running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
7:57 a.m.: assist citizen, Daniel Ridge, a caller reports being locked out of a running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
9:01 a.m.: city ordinance violation, callers reports sidewalks have not been cleared on Southampton Road, South Maple Street, White Street, Franklin Street and Conner Avenue;
11:05 a.m.: disturbance, Fourth Street, a caller reports her husband threatened to kill her and attempted to choke her, the responding officer reports that the woman said that the couple had been engaged in an argument when the man lost his temper and attempted to choke her, the officer observed signs of injury on the woman, Lawrence P. Catania, 75, of 8 Fourth Ave., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
3:17 p.m.: arrest, Main Street, a community policing officer reports he observed a known person he believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the warrant was confirmed, James E. Erwin Jr., 29, of 377 College Highway, Southampton, was arrested on the warrant;
5:40 p.m.: larceny, Kellogg Street, a community policing supervisor requests that an officer be dispatched to investigate the possible theft of a dog, the responding officer reports a resident said that her tea cup Yorkshire terrier dog has been missing and she has canvassed the neighborhood in search of the dog, the woman said that a letter carrier and a resident said that they had seen a man pick up the dog, the officer reports the letter carrier said that a male party picked up the dog and subsequently left in a described vehicle;
7:02 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, caller from a Main Street liquor store reports that a known customer stole a bottle of whiskey, the responding officer reports he sought the suspect at his home but he was not there, the officer spoke with the suspect’s mother who said that her son was not at home, the officer reports the suspect’s mother subsequently went to the liquor store to return the stolen bottle and make restitution, no charges were filed;
7:39 p.m.: larceny, Washington Street, a resident came to the station to complain that her car was stolen from her parking lot, the responding officer reports that the woman said that she parked her car about noon in the parking lot at the Westfield State University housing building on Washington Street and about 6:15 p.m. found the vehicle to be missing, the woman said that he car had been locked and showed the officer that she still has the key.
