12:50 p.m.: animal complaint, King Avenue, a caller reported a sick or injured cat, the responding animal control officer reports an orange and white domestic long haired cat was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
1:09 p.m.: fraud, Princeton Street, a resident came to the station to report herself the victim of a fraud, the responding officer reports the woman said that she received an email message purportedly from Apple and was told her account had been locked, the woman said she answered some questions and later found a $45 charge on her account which had originated in China, the woman said she searched on-line for an Apple representative and called a number she found, the woman said that she was on the phone for four hours and repeatedly gave the person she was speaking with the redemption codes from gift cards she purchased at his direction and was repeatedly told the numbers were invalid so she repeated her transactions, the woman sent a total of $6,900 to her contact and was subsequently contacted by a “supervisor” who offered to help her get her money back, the woman said she was told the company could only issue checks in the amount of $5,000 so she would have to send back change, the woman decided at that point that she was being scammed so she sent no more money.
