10:49 a.m.: Accident, Springdale Road. Police received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a 2015 Nissan Rogue and a 2010 Honda Civic. One of the vehicles involved, following the accident, did not stop and ended up striking a tree nearby. The driver of the vehicle that went into the tree was reportedly injured and Westfield Fire paramedics transported the person to Baystate Noble Hospital via ambulance. Both vehicles were towed, as well.
1:29 p.m.: Accident, East Mountain Road. Police received a report of a car versus pole accident involving a 2006 GMC Yukon. According to the driver they thought they “fell asleep while driving” because they did not feel well and thus drove off the road. The driver was not complaining of any injuries and no tow was needed.
10:59 p.m.: Assist other police department, Union Avenue. Police received a report from State Police of a chase that had occurred through the city. The chase ended with a crash into a home at 3 Union Ave., and the driver was arrested. Two people were also injured and were each transported via Westfield Fire ambulance and paramedics. One, a pregnant female, was transported to Baystate Medical Center, and the other, a male, was transported to Mercy Hospital. Police arrested Boyd Norman, 42, of Westfield, and charged him with multiple charges, including driving under the influence and failing to stop for police. Full story here.
