8:07 a.m.: a caller reports that she had been away from her home for a few days and returned to find that her apartment had been entered and property had been stolen, the responding officer reports the woman said that a neighbor had seen a relative of hers who has an addiction at her home while she was away and said that she believes this relative knows how to defeat her lock, a locked wooden cabinet was found to have been pried open and hundreds of dollars in cash and two diamond rings valued at about $4,000 had been stolen, the victim said that her relative had stolen for her in the past, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
9:01 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Meadow Street at Hanover Street, a caller reports that the sidewalk in front of a Meadow Street business is covered in ice, the responding officer reports nobody was found at the business and all contact numbers were called to no avail, similar complaints were received for addresses on Union Street, Southampton Road, Prospect Street (7) and Willow Brook Lane;
11:23 a.m.: annoying phone calls, a resident came to the station to report he has been receiving annoying phone calls, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he has logged 13 annoying calls at his home and business, the complainant said that the caller does not speak in most of the calls but in two instances the caller simply said “die”, the man said that he suspects a relative is responsible;
2:29 p.m.: assist other agency, City View Boulevard at Fox Hill Drive, a caller from the G&E requests an officer to assist with traffic as a tree service deals with a tree which fell on power lines, the responding officer reports he directed traffic for 45 minutes as the tree service workers removed the fallen tree;
4:13 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Prospect Street, a caller reports that a stretch of sidewalk has not been shoveled, the responding officer reports that the sidewalk had obviously been shoveled but passing plows and traffic had splashed ice back on to the sidewalk, the resident agreed to salt the sidewalk;
7:11 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a caller report that a man who was attempting to shoplift abandoned the stolen property and fled, the responding officer reports that the man was identified as a former employee, the officer found that the suspect is a resident of the Samaritan Inn but was not there, staffers at the shelter were asked to advise police if the man returns, a warrant application was filed.
