Major crime and incident report
Tuesday, June 16, 2015
11:39 a.m.:
motor vehicle accident, Main Street in the area of Fenton Leasing Inc., patrol officer reports a rear end accident involving a 2004 Dodge and a 2006 Hyundai, officer reports operator of the vehicle which was struck on the rear is pregnant and has requested an ambulance, she was transported to the Baystate Medical Center for further evaluation;
1:08 p.m.: suspicious activity, Harvard Street, woman reports that a man in a white van has been following her for several days when she get s onto and off a bus, subject then parks near the Great River Bridge and follows her toward her residence, woman states that man appears to know here schedule, officer advised the caller to record the registration plate of the vehicle and if possible photograph the plate and or suspect, and then notified the department;
2:49 p.m.: shoplifting, arrest, Springfield Road in area of rest stop near West Springfield line, Walmart security reports a man stole a backpack that he has filled with watches, a security person was chasing the subject through the parking lot toward Springfield Road, officer reports locating the suspect at the rest stop area and detaining him, a witness stopped to tell officers that the suspect had thrown the backpack over the guardrail as he ran, officer located the backpack which contained 31 watches, store security confirmed identification of suspect and of stolen merchandise, Francisco S. Serrano, 47, of 755 Worthington St., Springfield charged with larceny of property valued at more than $250;
5:32 p.m.: weather complaint, Loomis Ridge Road, caller reports a tree down on power lines, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified to dispatch a repair crew to remove the hazard;
7:49 p.m.: unwanted guests, Walmart, 1421 Springfield Road, caller states a former employee is at the store and they wish for the employee and a companion to leave, officer reports trespass notices were served to a man and woman, services rendered.
