Major crime and incident report
Monday, June 29, 2015
12:23 a.m.:
motor vehicle violation, arrest, Feeding Hills Road, officer reports stopping a 2003 Hyundai for an invalid inspection sticker, officer reports passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was asleep, then woke up and covered his pants pocket with his hand, officer searched the passenger and found 50 bags of heroin in that pocket, Jose M. Nunez, 26, of 111 Savor Ave., Springfield charged with possession of a class A drug, possession with intent to distribute a class A narcotic and conspiracy to violate drug laws, two citations issued to vehicle operator;
7:35 a.m.: vandalism, Tannery Road, caller reports house sprayed with paint during the night, officer reports information taken;
9:40 a.m.: vandalism, Birch Bluffs Drive, caller reports a 2000 Chevrolet truck was sprayed with black paint during the night, caller reports other property on that street were also sprayed with paint, office reports information taken, incidents remain under investigation;
2:10 p.m.: identity fraud, Union Street, citizen came to the station to report that a check, in the amount of $200, was made out to a third party she does not know and that she did not initiate the transaction, incident under internal investigation by the bank and detective bureau;
5:02 p.m.: larceny, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, citizen came to the station to report that a credit card was stolen and used 15 times in the Westfield area, reporting party identified a suspect, case referred to the detective bureau for further investigation;
6:55 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Pochassic Road, off-duty officer reports a utility pole was damaged and there are motor vehicle pieces around the pole, patrol officer reports this was a hit-and-run accident, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified of the damage to the utility pole;
8:09 p.m.: property found, 15 Washington St., citizen came to station with a BB gun that her son found requesting that the department dispose of the gun, officer reports property tagged and put into property room.
