12:05 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street at Shepard Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to have been suspended, a criminal citation was filed, the plates were seized and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:12 a.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a caller from a Southwick Road gas station reports a customer pumped fuel valued at $120 and left without making payment, the responding officer reports the vehicle was not found, a message was left for the registered owner;
12:07 p.m.: fire, Little River Road, a deputy fire chief reports he was advised of an incidence of illegal burning, the responding firefighters report the resident was advised of the pertinent city ordinances and extinguished the fire;1:03 p.m.: vandalism, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a community policing officer reports an incidence of vandalism, the responding officer reports a victim said that between noon and 1 p.m. a neighbor advised him that a window of his van had been smashed, the officer reports the victim said that he believes the damage was done with a BB or air rifle and said that he knows of nobody who would target his vehicle;
2:56 p.m.: vandalism, Church Street Commons, Elm Street, a caller from the Westfield Business Improvement District called to report flower pots in the alley near the Church Street Commons has been tipped over, perhaps by a motor vehicle, the pots were not damaged;
3:23 p.m.: breaking and entering, Mechanic Street, a caller reports she came home to find the doors of her house open, the responding officer reports the caller’s home was entered and property was stolen, the incident remains under investigation;
4:59 p.m.: larceny, Court Street, a 14-year-old resident and his mother came to the station to report the boy’s cell phone had been stolen, the responding officer reports the boy said that he left his cell phone hidden under a backpack in the locker room at the YMCA and when he returned about an hour and a quarter later he found the phone was missing;
6:31 p.m.: assault, Mechanic Street, a resident came to the station with her 16-year-old daughter to report the girl was assaulted by a contemporary, the responding officer reports he found that the complainant and a schoolmate had been engaged in an altercation on social media and one girl met the other when she exited a school bus, an altercation ensued during their face-to-face encounter;
9:20 p.m.: assist citizen, Spring Street, a caller requests an officer to assist him in recovering property from his girlfriend’s apartment, the responding officer reports he assisted as the man retrieved the belongings he needed without incident.
