Major crime and incident report

1:33 a.m.: Shoplifting, Walmart Springfield Road. Police received a report from Walmart loss prevention that a couple was allegedly attempting to “shoplift a large amount of seafood,” reportedly hiding it inside a car seat and under a blanket. Police arrived and arrested Carlos Casillas, 43, of Springfield, on four warrants and also charged him with shoplifting by asportation and trespass.

4:59 p.m.: Accident, Pleasant Street and Court Street. Police received a report of a child that was on a bicycle that collided with another vehicle. Police records showed that Westfield Fire personnel arrived on scene but a patient refusal was obtained and they did not transport anyone to the hospital.

7:16 p.m.: Accident, Southampton Road. Police received a report of a car versus deer. No injuries to humans reported but the deer was reported deceased.

11:33 p.m.: Traffic or motor vehicle complaint, Laro Road. Police received a report of a mailbox that had reportedly received a good amount of damage, possibly due to a vehicle that struck it. A Ford hubcap was reportedly found on scene but no description of any vehicle was able to be given.
