9:06 a.m.: lost property, Springfield Road, a West Springfield resident reports via the online reporting option that his backpack containing his computer was stolen while he was on a PVTA bus;
9:19 a.m.: assist other police department, Southwick officers report they are following a vehicle associated with infractions in their town and request permission to continue as it travels into the city, the shift supervisor approved the request and Southwick officers stopped the car at Loomis Street and Granville Road and Westfield officers assisted them, the Southwick officers released the vehicle and the occupants;
11:57 a.m.: larceny, Franklin Street, a resident reports via the online reporting option that her son’s BMX style bicycle was stolen from the backyard of her apartment complex;
12:12 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports the observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light and stopped the car, the officer reports he immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana and the occupants of the car appeared to be nervous, the operator said that he has never had a license and the officer found that neither of the passengers was a licensed driver, the officer advised the occupants that the car would be towed and the contents inventoried, the officer reports that when the driver exited he saw the butts of two marijuana cigarettes and a bag of marijuana on the floor and a city ordinance violation citation was issued, the officer found several bags of marijuana apparently packaged for sale near where one passenger had been seated and a box which contained several bags of marijuana was found near where the other passenger had been seated, criminal complaints charging each passenger with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute were filed;
1:00 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a West Springfield resident came to the shelter to surrender a white American bulldog mix with black spots she reported was found in the parking lot of a Springfield Road department store about a week earlier;
2:50 p.m.: fraud, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a resident came to the station to complain of credit card fraud, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had discovered eight fraudulent charges for $39.90 which had been posted to her account between July, 2014, and March, 2015, the woman said that she found that the charges were made by a company in Minnesota and a representative of that business played a recording for her of a female party ordering a magazine subscription, the officer reports the woman said that she suspects her son’s former girlfriend is responsible;
3:08 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, an officer from the Lee Police Department reports a Lee resident found that his credit card number had been fraudulently used at a Springfield Road department store, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau.
