12:10 a.m.: violation of a protective order, Main Street, a caller reports he has learned of threats made by his girlfriend’s former husband against himself and his girlfriend, the responding officer reports he was told that the soon-to-be former husband of the female victim is the defendant of a protective order had violated the ‘No contact’ clause of the order by telling a person he knew to tell his estranged wife that he was going to kill her and her new boyfriend, the officer reports he filed a criminal complaint and requested a warrant for charges of violation of a protective order and threatening to commit a crime;
1:31 p.m.: suspicious activity, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a known party leaning into a window of an occupied vehicle and investigated to see if any transfer of contraband had occurred, the officer reports the suspect was found to be highly intoxicated but found no indication of an infraction, the officer reports he subsequently learned that the man had been served a ‘No trespassing’ order for the property where he had been seen and a criminal complaint was filed;
2:31 a.m.: liquor law violation, Elm Street, patrol officers reports they encountered a male party in possession of an open container of alcohol in public, the officers reports a city ordinance violation citation was filed;
1:56 p.m.: school investigation, Westfield Middle School South, a school resource officer reports that he was advised that a seventh grade boy was found to have an eight inch knife with a three and a half inch blade in his backpack, administrative sanctions were imposed;
2:05 p.m.: found property, Old Stage Road, a patrol officer reports finding a bag of hypodermic syringes in the road, the respond officer reports the syringes were disposed of in the bio-hazard collection container in City Hall;
3:06 p.m.: assist citizen, Beveridge Boulevard, a caller reports her daughter is locked out of her home, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
5:43 p.m.: suspicious person, Bates Street, a caller reports a male party who has threatened to harm the residents is trying to break into their home via a window, the responding officer reports he observed a male party outside the residence who fled, a bystander pointed out the suspect’s direction of flight and the officer reports he soon found the suspect nearby where his girlfriend was pleading with him to return, the officer reports the man started to walk towards him yelling and was placed in custody, the resident said that she had been involved in an argument with her son via telephone and he came to her residence where he damaged a door and a window in an attempt to enter against her wishes, Jeffrey Singleton, 17, of 12 Bates St., was arrested for vandalizing property and for disorderly conduct.
