Major crime and incident report

6:24 a.m.:
vandalism, 139 Union St., caller reports rear door damage and finding two bricks on the rear deck, officer reports sliding screen door damage, bricks taken for further examination, incident remains under investigation;
9:28 a.m.: hit and run accident, Specialty Restoration, 191 Servistar Industrial Way, caller reports building “significantly” damaged, but does not know when it occurred, officer reports that it appears that building was struck by a truck backing up toward building, information taken;
9:50 a.m.: officer wanted, Shell Mart, 259 North Elm St., caller reports a former employee is threatening to come into the store and steal the contents of the change drawer, officer reports store manager requested that the former employee be served with a trespass notice, services rendered;
11:21 a.m.: shoplifting, Rocky’s Ace Hardware, 2 Free St., manager reports a young man wearing a New York Yankees hat walked out of the store with an electric drill valued at $230, subject left the parking lot in a white vehicle, possibly a Pontiac, officer reports information taken, under investigation;
12:58 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Yankee Village Plaza parking lot, citizen came to station to report that her husband’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle, officer reports locating the other motorist who was unaware that contact between the two vehicles occurred, officer reports neither vehicle had any damage, no furthered action required;
12:37 p.m.: weather complaint, Morris Street, caller reports a tree in the city’s treebelt came down on power lines, officer reports Department of Public Works and Westfield Gas & Electric Department crews dispatched to remove hazard, see following entry;
1:12 p.m.: accident Morris Street, officer reports that resident moved his 2010 Hyundai hatchback Accent out of the driveway and into the street to allow access for DPW and WG&E crews to remove the city-owned tree from private property, that vehicle was struck on the driver’s side front quarter panel by a 2002 International dump truck registered to the DPW, information taken and is available to the Hyundai owner to file an insurance claim;
4:29 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Pleasant Street, caller reports being involved in a two-vehicle collision between reporting party’s 1999 Ford Taurus and a grey truck which left the area, officer reports truck operator stop, then left without identifying himself when he saw no damage to the Ford, caller reports that her 11-year-old daughter, who was in the rear seat is complaining of neck pain, officer requesting ambulance, transport declined, under investigation.
