Emergency Response and Crime Report

8:19 a.m.: suspicious boat, Pequot Point Road, a caller reports there is an unoccupied boat with fishing gear floating across the pond, the responding firefighters report they found a man on the shore who said his boat got away from him, the boat was retrieved by another boater;
9:30 a.m.: animal complaint, West Road, an animal control officer reports she found an intact male Samoyed mix dog walking in the middle of West Road;
10:18 a.m.: animal complaint, Day Avenue, a caller reports taking custody of a small terrier dog, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
11:28 a.m.: animal complaint, Main Street, a caller reports locating a baby bird with a broken wing, the responding animal control officer took custody of the bird and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
12:10 p.m.: assault, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by a youth who reported that he had been assaulted, the officer reports the high school pupil said that he was walking home from the vocational school when a schoolmate accosted him and invaded his personal space, the boy said that when he pushed the other boy away from him he started to punch him, the officer spoke with the second boy who said that the complainant had sent him a threatening warning relative to the complainant’s sister via a text message and he accosted the boy to speak about the text, the boy said when the complainant pushed him a fight ensued, no charges were filed;
12:50 p.m.: breaking and entering, Woodcliff Drive, a call reports that she has discovered evidence of an attempt to break into her house which may be useful relative to an ongoing investigation of house breaks in the neighborhood, the responding officer documented the woman’s information;
12:50 p.m.: animal complaint, Orange Street, an animal control officer was dispatched at the request of the probation department to take custody of a pit bull dog and her puppies, the ACO reports she transported three adult pit bull dogs and eight puppies to the municipal animal shelter;
2:04 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a stray cat, the responding animal control officer reports the cat was transported to a homeless cat shelter;
5:41 p.m.: animal complaint, Bates Street, a caller reports a female party was bitten by a dog and is bleeding, the responding officer reports that he was eventually able to determine that a female party went to visit a friend and, after knocking, opened the door to be met by her friend’s dog, the woman said she tried to pet the dog and was bitten on her hand and face, the woman was transported to Noble Hospital where she was treated and released;
6:59 p.m.: officer wanted, Campanelli Drive, a warehouse worker called to report that narcotics paraphernalia was found among the belongings abandoned by a former employee, the responding officer reports a glass pipe was transported to the station for destruction;
7:36 p.m.: domestic disturbance, Stanley Park, 400 Western Avenue, a resident came to the station to report she was assaulted with water balloons at the park, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News,
8:56 p.m.: smoke complaint, West School Street, a caller reports a neighbor appears to be burning plastic in his house and the smoke from the chimney is toxic, the responding firefighters report the resident was burning wood in his wood stove;
9:13 p.m.: disturbance, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a caller reports his mother is intoxicated and struck him and his friends, the responding officer report the caller’s friends had left and he said that his mother was agitated and had broken property and slapped him and his friends, the officer deemed the woman to be too intoxicated to care for herself and she was placed in protective custody;
11:45 p.m.: disturbance, Jefferson Street, a caller reports her parents are involved in a domestic disturbance, the responding officer reports he provided a courtesy transport to a Riverside Drive address for the female party and her children, the male party was found to be intoxicated and stayed in the residence;
11:56 p.m.: disturbance, Elm Street, a caller from an Elm Street bar reports patrons are arguing outside, the responding officer report the caller said that he observed a couple arguing and escorted the male party outside whereupon the male party immediately smashed the windshield of the female party’s vehicle, the woman was advised and an argument developed, the officer reports the male party had left but was spotted by an officer and, after a foot chase, was taken into custody, the officer report that the female party is the plaintiff of an abuse protection order and the male party is the defendant, Tyler Joseph Partyka, 21, of 43 Russell Stage Road, Blandford, was arrested for malicious destruction of property valued more than $250, disorderly conduct and violation of an abuse prevention order.
