Major crime and incident log

9:05 a.m.: Vandalism, White Street. Police received a report of a fence and car that were reportedly vandalized. Police provided no further information on the matter. 

4:45 p.m.: Animal complaint, Montgomery Road. Police received a report of a female party who was allegedly bit on the leg by a dog on Montgomery Road. The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center by Westfield Fire ambulance and personnel. Animal control is investigating. 

6:49 p.m.: Shoplifting and arrest, Southwick Road. Police received a report of a female who had come into a liquor store and allegedly “stole one bottle of liquor and left on foot.” Police found a person matching the description and arrested Heather Marie Powell, 28, of Westfield, and charged her with shoplifting by asportation. 

8:31 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, East Main Street. Police reported that they stopped a vehicle for an issue with a headlight. After stopping the vehicle, police reported that they were allegedly given a “false name” of the driver. Police reported they eventually ID’ed the driver. Police arrested Jayson Lee Machiote, 28, of Springfield, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended, subsequent offense, motor vehicle operator refuse to identify self and defective headlight equipment violation.
