8:29 a.m.: school investigation, Hubbard St., a school resource officer reports he was advised of an incidence of harassment of a student by a schoolmate and dealt with the issue;
9:51 a.m.: officer wanted, Campanelli Drive, an anonymous caller reports a “massive fuel leak” on Campanelli Drive, the responding officer reports he assessed the spill from the fuel tank of a tractor trailer unit with a DPW worker and found the amount of fuel spilled was less than the reporting threshold, the company responsible had already arranged for a contractor to clean up the spill;
6:10 p.m.: suspicious persons, East Silver Street, a caller reports that two men appear to have been living in bushes near the railroad right-of-way for two days, the responding officer reports he identified the two men and they agreed to leave the area;
7:27 p.m.: suspicious person, Broad Street, a caller reports a male party asked to use a phone because his vehicle broke down but she does not see a disabled vehicle in the area, the responding officer reports the man was found sitting on a bench near the caller’s address and said that his broken down vehicle was parked at an East Silver Street parking lot, a routine check revealed that the man was the subject of three outstanding warrants, Wayne M. Litwak, 43, of 14 Wareham St., Springfield, was arrested on the warrants;
9:54 p.m.: breaking and entering, Meadow Street, a caller reports his home was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that a window was broken to gain access and a plasma television and other electronic devices were stolen;
9:59 p.m.: fire, Deer Path Lane, a patrol officer reports he observed a large plume of black smoke and investigated to find a resident who said that he had been burning paper and trash and thought the rain would control the fire, the officer reports the man used a backhoe to extinguish the fire, the responding firefighters report the fire was extinguished prior to their arrival and the resident was advised of the pertinent city ordinances.
