12:21 a.m.: found property, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he dispersed a group of persons on Elm Street and subsequently discovered a bag of marijuana on the ground, the contraband was transported to the station for proper disposal;
12:40 a.m.: assault, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he approached an Elm Street bar to find a commotion outside and saw a woman atop another who was yelling and assaulting the prostrate woman, the officer reports the first assailant was holding the woman by her hair while a standing confederate yelled and kicked her, witnesses said that the standing woman had punched others while still inside the bar, Tinnelle S. Guzman, 22, of 129 Franklin St., was arrested for assault and battery and disorderly conduct, Danielle J. Girard, 21, of 37 Mechanic St., was arrested for was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and disorderly conduct:
1:04 a.m.: suspicious activity, School Street, a patrol officer reports he observed that a DPW sign he had seen a short time earlier was missing and subsequently found a young man walking on School Street wearing a backpack which bulged with an outline consistent with missing sign, the officer inspected the back pack despite the objection of the owner and found the missing sign along with six cans of beer, William Ashford MacDonald, 19, of 712 Willow St., South Yarmouth, was arrested for receiving stolen property valued less than $250 and for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of alcohol;
1:47 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
2:51 a.m.: found property, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he found a credit card outside an Elm Street bar and, unable to immediately find the owner, transported the card to the station for safe keeping;
9:57 a.m.: fire, South Maple Street, a caller reports smoke, the responding fire captain reports unauthorized burning was found, the resident was advised of the pertinent city ordinances and the fire was extinguished;
10:00 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Cardinal Lane, a patrol officer reports a resident was watering a lawn in violation of a recently enacted limitations on non-essential water use, the resident was advised of the infraction and the possible consequences;
10:06 a.m.: fraud, Mechanic Street, a resident came to the station to report a credit account was opened in his name without his knowledge, the responding officer reports the complainant said that check of his credit record revealed an account which was open in his name for about three months in 2008;
10:32 a.m.: well being check, a caller reports a vehicle observed operating erratically is now at a North Elm Street gas station and the operator appears to be slumped over the wheel, the responding officer reports he found the vehicle with the engine shut down and the keys visible in the center console, the officer reports that the operator was roused and found to be too intoxicated to care for herself, the woman said that there was nobody who would come to care for her and she was placed in protective custody;
1:31 p.m.: larceny, Russell Road, a caller from a Russell Road convenience store reports that five bundles of lottery tickets are missing, the responding officer reports the store owner said that the tickets which had been stolen or misplaced between December and April were discovered to be missing during an audit of a lottery official and were never activated, none of the missing tickets has been paid;
2:11 p.m.: larceny, Meadow Street, a resident came to the station to report that his bicycle was stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that the bike had been in a rack outside his home and he thought it had been locked, security video will be reviewed;
3:38 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller reports money is missing from a Broad Street nursing facility, the responding officer reports an administrator said that she went to get money held for safekeeping for a resident in a safe in the office and found the money, more than $900, to be missing, the woman said that the facility’s petty cash, about $75 was also missing, there was no sign of forcible entry, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
7:23 p.m.: fire, Court Street, a caller from Noble Hospital reports that roadside mulch was burning and hospital personnel put it out but asks that firefighters ensure it is extinguished, the responding firefighters report the fire was fully extinguished;
8:51 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Taylor Avenue, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:03 p.m.: found property, Court Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a credit card found on Court Street, a message sent to the owner did not elicit a reply and the card was held at the station for safekeeping.
