1:57 a.m.: assault, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by a man who said that he had been assaulted by a known person, the officer reports the victim said that the suspect had taken exception to his greeting of the suspect’s girlfriend and sucker punched him causing him to collapse to the ground where the suspect kicked him, the suspect was found at his girlfriend’s nearby residence, Jonathan Savard, 25, of 387 Riverdale St., West Springfield, was arrested for assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a shod foot);
4:49 a.m.: loitering, Main Street, a caller reports two persons with a shopping cart have been in the business for some time but have not purchased anything, the caller also stated that the persons emit an offensive odor, the responding officer reports the couple was encouraged to leave the business;
6:57 a.m.: school investigation, Harrison Avenue, a school resource officer requests a marked cruiser to investigate a report of a person on school grounds wearing a holster which may hold a firearm, the SRO reports the “holster” contained a cell phone;
10:03 a.m.: disturbance Kasper Drive, a caller reports a noise complaint, the responding officer reports peace was restored;
11:38 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, an animal control officer reports a person brought to the shelter a cat reportedly found in the Parker Avenue neighborhood;
1:16 p.m.: fraud, Powder Mill Village, 128 Union Street, a resident came to the station to report fraud, the responding officer reports the complainant said that his credit card was used on-line four times, the victim does not know how his account was compromised;
1:18 p.m.: identity fraud, Woronoco Ave, a resident came to the station to complain that someone stole his identity to redirect a benefits check, the responding officer reports the victim suffered no cash loss;
3:16 p.m.: fraud, a resident came to the station to complain that he was the victim of an on-line scam, the responding officer reported the victim said that he had attempted to obtain a loan on-line and was required to make significant pre-disbursement payments, the man said that he is now unable to contact the putative lender and the actual loan was never made to him.
