7:07 a.m.: larceny, Southampton Road, a caller reports her vehicle was stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that she was behind on her car payments, the officer reports the vehicle had been repossessed;
1:16 p.m.: larceny, Woodland Road, a caller reports a family member fraudulently used her credit card, the responding office reports that although more than $1,000 in unauthorized charges were made by her son the victim does not wish to pursue criminal charges;
6:35 p.m.: suspicious person, Elm Street, a caller reports a known man offered to sell him hard drugs at a convenience store, the responding officer reports the suspect was located nearby and was found to be in possession of illegal drugs, James A. Alaimo, 41, of 9 Fowler St., was arrested for possession of a Class A drug, a subsequent offense, possession of a Class B drug, a subsequent offense, and possession of a Class C drug, a subsequent offense; while the officer was with the suspect he was approached by another party who said that Alaimo had stolen his bicycle which is valued about $2,000, Alaimo was also charged with larceny of property valued more than $1,200;
9:43 p.m.: breaking and entering, Mechanic Street, a caller reports a male party came into her home and stole property, the woman said that she confronted the man and recovered her wallet but believe he left with other property, the officer reports entry was made via a sliding glass door, a suspect was found nearby who had exactly the same amount of cash the woman said had been stolen and was subsequently identified by the victim, Edward J. Whalen Jr., 64, of no fixed address in Westfield, was arrested for breaking and entering a building in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony and larceny of property valued less than $250;
9:51 p.m.: disturbance, Old Feeding Hills Road, a caller reports a 12-year-old neighbor came to his home and told his wife that she had run away because her father was mean to her, the responding officer reports the man said that a short time later the girl’s father entered his home uninvited and put his hands on him before aggressively ordering the child to get in his car, the officer reports a mandated report of possible child abuse or neglect was filed and the Department of Children and Families was notified.
