9:28 a.m.: animal complaint, Shaker Road, a caller reports her dogs were attacked by two loose dogs while walking on a path behind the water treatment plant, the responding animal control officer reports she took custody of a male yellow Labrador retriever dog and a female brown and white pit bull dog and transported them to the municipal animal shelter;
12:09 p.m.: disturbance, Franklin Street, multiple callers report a disturbance involving 2-4 persons which may involve weapons, the responding officer reports no weapons were found and the involved parties went their separate ways;
4:02 p.m.: larceny, Franklin Street, a call from a Franklin Street discount store reports a male party in the store appeared to have been putting merchandise in his pockets and left the store without making a purchase, the responding officer reports that the suspect was not found when he arrived, the officer reports the caller stated that he would like to serve the man with a “No trespassing” order if he returns and he was advised to call police again if that happens;
4:03 p.m.: animal complaint, Reservoir Avenue, a resident came to the animal shelter to surrender a cat which he said had been loitering near his home since August, the man said that if nobody claims the female black and white medium haired cat he would like to adopt it;
5:46 p.m.: breaking and entering, Westwood Drive, a caller reports the home of relatives was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller stated that she brought relatives back to their home and found the back door had been kicked in and property including a television had been stolen, the officer reports an investigation was initiated;
6:18 p.m.: fire, Plymouth Lane, a called reports an oven fire, the responding firefighters report the fire was confined to the oven where a coil was arcing, power to the stove was interrupted and the residents were advised to have the oven serviced;
10:46 p.m.: larceny, Franklin Street, a caller from a Franklin Street liquor store reports a young male party stole a bottle of liquor and is walking eastbound on Franklin Street, the responding officer reports a suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen merchandise, Omar Enrique Maldonado, 20, of 19 Dawes St., Apt. 01109, Springfield was arrested for shoplifting by asportation and for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor.
