1:22 a.m.: arrest, Elm Street, a caller from the probation department reports that she is faxing an arrest warrant for a probationer whose electronic monitoring device indicated him to have been on Elm Street an hour earlier, the man was found in an Elm Street bar, Anthony M. Demattia, 27, of 6 Lincoln St., was arrested on the warrant;
6:21 a.m.: assist other agency, Steiger Drive, officers were detailed to execute a warrant of apprehension issued by Westfield District Court, the responding officers report that the man was taken into custody without incident and held pending the opening of the court;
8:43 a.m.: larceny, Birge Avenue, a caller from an auto parts store reports wheels were stolen from the company’s service vehicle, the responding officer reports the caller showed him the van which was on blocks and missing the rear wheels, the officer reports that the hubcaps and lugnuts were not taken;
10:32 a.m.: larceny, Elm Street at School Street, a caller reports a motorist stopped and a male party loaded a sheet of plywood taken from a construction site atop a small car, the responding officer reports that the man assumed that the plywood on hand at the site of the gazebo under construction at the Green was free for the taking, the man was advised otherwise and returned the plywood sheet, he was advised not to repeat his action;
12:45 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Meadow Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
2:54 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street discount store reports a shoplifter has been detained in the store, the responding officer reports a store employee said that his attention was drawn to the woman because she entered in the company of a person believed to have stolen from the store in the past, the employee said that he observed the suspect place merchandise in her purse and he accosted her when she attempted to exit without making payment, merchandise valued at $21.71 was recovered;
3:17 p.m.: found property, Old Stage Road, a resident came to the station to surrender a bank card he reported was found while raking leaves, the responding officer reports the owner of the card could not be contacted and it was stored for safekeeping;
3:57 p.m.: officer wanted, Sackett Street, a caller reports four or five youths are on the roof of a city building, the responding officer reports he spoke with a group of six teenagers some of whom were descending from the roof when he arrived, the officer reports he advised the youths of the dangers and they apologized before they were sent on their ways, the officer notes that the roof is easily accessible from the adjacent embankment and the fence erected to block the roof is no longer effective;
6:28 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer reports a routine check of a vehicle seen operating on Main Street revealed that the registration plates had been stolen, the officer reports he stopped the car on Main Street but before a backup officer arrived the car accelerated and the operator fled on George Street with the officer in pursuit, the officer reports the operator extinguished the vehicle’s lights before turning on to Meadow Street where it stuck a westbound vehicle which in turn struck an eastbound vehicle, one of the involved operators was trapped in her vehicle and subsequently extricated by firefighters, the operator abandoned the offending vehicle and fled on foot to Williams Street where she was discovered behind a building, a small dog was found in the vehicle and an animal control officer was summoned to take charge of the dog, Daisha Serrano, 19, of no fixed address in Holyoke, was arrested for failure to stop for police, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without illuminated headlights, speeding, receiving stolen property valued less than $250, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and a number plate violation to conceal identification;
8:16 p.m.: well-being check, Franklin Street, a caller reports a male party is passed out on Franklin Street, the responding officer report that the man was conscious and was provided a courtesy transport to his Orange Street home;
10:57 p.m.: disturbance, Washington Street, a security officer from an apartment building reports an intoxicated person is attempting to strike others, the responding officer reports that the victim was undecided about pursuing criminal charges and was advised of his civil options.
