8:41 a.m.: Accident, Granville Road. Police reported that a 2004 Toyota car had driven off the road and struck a tree. The car had airbags deployed and injuries were reported by the sole occupant. According to police, the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and drifted off the road. The driver was transported to Baystate Medical Center by Westfield Fire paramedics.

10:36 a.m.: Vandalism, Elm Street. Police received a report of a vacant building whose window was broken. Police reported that it was a possible attempted breaking and entering but there was wood behind the window that prevented any theft from occurring. No witnesses or suspects.

4:52 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, Brookline Avenue. Police reported that they stopped Vasiliy Khomyak, 29, of Westfield, after they saw him riding a motorcycle and they were reportedly aware of him having a revoked driver’s license. Police stopped Khomyak, arrested him and charged him operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked and an unregistered motor vehicle.

10:40 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, Mechanic Street. Police initially stopped a vehicle being operated by Joseph V. Nahorniak, 24, of Holyoke, after reportedly witnessing the vehicle speeding. Upon stopping the vehicle, police reported that Nahorniak gave police a false name. Police eventually learned of Nahorniak’s identity and found that a warrant was out for his arrest. Police arrested Nahorniak on the warrant and also charged him with motor vehicle operator refusing to identify self and speeding.
