8:58 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating on Springfield Road without an inspection sticker and stopped the car, the vehicle was found to be unregistered and was towed;
8:59 a.m.: larceny, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports he was advised of the theft of a smart phone from a gym locker;
9:37 a.m.; animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a person came to the station to surrender a hound dog and Labrador retriever dog cross;
10:50 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Western Avenue, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle was found to be unregistered and was towed to the police impound yard;
10:54 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street at Highland View Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
11:31 a.m.: suspicious item, Fairfield Avenue, a caller reports finding what appears to be a mortar shell in the roadway, the responding officer reports the item was a large caliber round of ammunition which was surrendered to the Army National Guard for disposal;
11:46 a.m.: larceny, Northridge Road, a resident came to the station to report the theft and misuse of personal checks, the responding officer reports the man said that he reported a theft from his shed a few days ago and now thinks that the perpetrator was a house guest who may have also stolen checks, the man said that he allowed a recent acquaintance to stay with him for a few days and has found that five checks were stolen and cashed, he said that three of the checks have his former houseguest’s name on them and he now believes the man may have stolen from the shed as well, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
12:43 p.m.: assault, a detective reports that pursuant to an investigation into stolen jewelry he learned that a suspect may have assaulted a victim, the detective reports that the suspect said that she had not reported that a known person who is believed to have stolen her jewelry broke into her home and struck her head with a baseball bat before asking her not to press charges as he is on probation, the officer spoke with suspect’s probation officer who interviewed the suspect, the suspect denied the assault, Nicholas Jon Disanto, 23, of 69 City View Boulevard, was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, home invasion and intimidating a witness;
12:52 p.m.: larceny, Bates Street, a resident said that he lost his debit card while working at a local retailer and subsequently found it had been used seven times locally, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
1:04 p.m.: larceny, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Avenue, a school resource officer reports he was advised of a theft of school property, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
3:01 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller reports a sink valued at $500 delivered to a business was left outside because it would not fit through the door and was stolen;
5:21 p.m.: found property, Main Street, a caller reports that a bicycle has been locked at a store’s bike rack for about six months, the responding officers report that employees moving the bicycle rack reported the apparently abandoned bike, the bike was transported to the station for safe keeping;
7:29 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, Fowler Street, West Springfield police report that suspects in a narcotics investigation may be en route to a city address, the responding officers reports they waited at the indicated address and confronted three men when they arrived about 7:30 p.m., one admitted he was an addict and surrendered a small amount of crack cocaine, David A. Cullison, 33, of 21 Chester St., West Springfield, was arrested fro possession of a Class B drug.
