1:21 a.m.: disturbance, Frederick Street, a caller reports neighbors are fighting, the responding officer reports a routine check of the participants revealed that one was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Robert A. Whitehurst, 32, of 388 Appleton St., Holyoke, was arrested on the warrant;
10:46 a.m.: vandalism, Kane Brothers Circle, a resident reports via the online reporting option that a window screen was holed by an apparent impact from an air gun pellet;
10:52 a.m.: brush fire, Montgomery Road, a caller reports his son told him that fallen tree limb is burning near the dam behind the fields near the high school, the brush truck was dispatched and reports the fire was extinguished;
3:08 p.m.: vandalism, Holland Avenue, a caller reports that while operating his pickup truck on Bush Street a youth struck the mirror of his vehicle, the responding officer reports that while operating on Holland Avenue a skateboarder threw out his hand as he passed and struck his rearview mirror assembly causing the mirror to pop out, the officer reports the youth said that while he was riding his skateboard in the roadway he thought he truck was too close so he stuck his hand out, the officer reports that the mirror appears to be repairable;
4:29 p.m.: disturbance, Edgewood Apartments, a caller reports a previous domestic assault, the responding officer reports the 16-year-old pregnant complainant said that three weeks earlier the father of her unborn child pushed her and slapped her face during an argument, the girl said that she had not reported the incident sooner because the 18-year-old boy had threatened her but said that her caseworker urged her to report the assault, the girl said that her caseworker had helped her obtain an abuse prevention order and asked that the officer not contact the suspect until it has been served;
5:02 p.m.: school violence, Paper Mill Elementary School, 148 Paper Mill Road, a resident came to the station to complain that his six-year-old daughter has been bullied on the school bus, the responding officer reports the man said that two fifth grade pupils ganged up on the girl and pinched her arms, the officer noted bruising consistent with pinches on her arm, the complainant provided a first name of one of the suspects and was advised to speak directly with the school principal, the incident was referred to the Detective Bureau;
5:09 p.m.: larceny, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports that several items were stolen from her doorstep, the responding officer report the complainant said that she ordered several items and checked online to see if they had been delivered and believes they were stolen before she could take them from her doorstep, the officer reports the woman provided a list of the items she ordered but has not received;
5:51 p.m.: officer wanted, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a resident came to the station to report that he found a male party sniffing her underwear in the laundry room, the responding officer reports the woman said that she entered the laundry room and found a male party at her dryer who was holding her underwear to his nose while reaching into the dryer with his other hand, the woman said that when she demanded an explanation the man said that he had just been helping out by moving her laundry from the dryer to her basket, the woman said that she she related her experience to her boyfriend and neighbors she learned the man’s first name and another woman said that she had found the man had moved her laundry on a previous occasion but had not seen him handling her underwear, the woman said that she investigated the man at the complex’s management office where a worker said that she knew who she was referring to but would not identify him for her but would cooperate with police, the responding officer reports the 36-year-old man was found in the condo he shares with his mother and said that he had just been being helpful, the officer reports he noted that there was a washer and dryer in the man’s kitchen but when he asked the man why he was in the laundry room when he has his own machines he got no reply;
6:13 p.m.: larceny, Jefferson Street, a resident came to the station to complain that her wallet was stolen and her debit card was used, the responding officer reports the woman identified a woman who she said was the only person who had an opportunity to steal the wallet, the officer reports the woman claimed to have been visiting her boyfriend in jail when the card was used, the case remains under investigation;
9:47 p.m.: liquor law violation, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a patrol officer reports that he checked the playground and observed a parked vehicle which started to leave when he drove into the playground, the officer reports the vehicle was stopped and he observed open bottles in a bag which were found to be beer, a city ordinance violation citation for consuming alcohol in public was issued;
9:59 p.m.: accident, King Street, a caller reports a Jeep is on its side in the middle of the roadway, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
10:33 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a caller reports an erratic operator, the responding officer reports he stopped the vehicle after he observed it cross the center line and drive partly in the opposing lane, the officer reports the operator exhibited the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication and failed a field sobriety test, Michael P. Butler, 42, of 72 Radisson Lane, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.
