12:38 a.m.: suspicious person, Elm Street at Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a person he believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the warrant was confirmed, John M. Lyttle, 18, of 50 Southampton Road, was arrested on the warrant;
1:16 a.m.: loitering, Elm Street at Franklin Street, a caller from a gas station and convenience store reports a group loitering in the area may include a person previously served a “No trespassing” order, the responding officer reports he identified a juvenile male who had been served such an order in hand and the boy was arrested for being delinquent by reason of trespass, the officer reports a check of others in the area revealed another juvenile boy was the subject of an outstanding warrant, that boy was also arrested;
2:37 a.m.: accident, East Silver Street, a caller reports a tractor-trailer unit has struck a railroad overpass, the responding officer reports the trucker said that although he saw the sign marking the bridge as 12 feet, 6 inches high but said that he has previously encountered other overpasses which are mislabeled and thus attempted to drive his 13 feet, 6 inch high trailer under the overpass, the trailer was extricated from the viaduct by a heavy duty tow truck;
3:12 a.m.: assist other police department, Franklin Street, state police notified area police departments of a vehicle being sought after it successfully fled from a trooper on Interstate 91, the vehicle was found to be registered to a Franklin Street resident and an officer spoke to the owner who said that she had parked it around the corer from her home to allow additional parking space near her apartment for guests attending a party she was staging, the woman said that she had not known that her car was missing but found that her keys were also missing, the woman told the officer that some of her guests brought persons she does not know to the party but believes one of the persons attending her party stole the car;
4:15 a.m.: recovered property, Hartford, Conn., police report the recovery of an automatic pistol reported stolen in Westfield in 2004, the calling officer reports that the weapon was recovered during an arrest;
8:00 a.m.: vandalism, Summit Drive, a caller reports his windshield was smashed with a pumpkin, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
8:35 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Road, a traffic enforcement officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be revoked for lack of insurance and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:18 a.m.: vandalism, Summit Drive, a caller reports her windshield was smashed with a pumpkin, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
12:05 p.m.: vandalism, Brenda Drive, a caller reports her windshield was smashed with a pumpkin, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
12:07 p.m.: assist citizen, Southampton Road, the defendant of a protective order came to the station to request assistance gathering possessions from a residence he is barred from by the order, the responding officer reports the man retrieved his belongings without incident, another officer reports a family member of the man came to the station to surrender on his behalf a .22 caliber rifle, a black powder rifle and a license to carry firearms;
1:46 p.m.: incapacitated person, Franklin Street, a caller reports he observed a male party fall and strike his head on the pavement, the responding officer reports the known man was found to be highly intoxicated and was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment;
3:41 p.m.: blessed event, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, the animal control officer reports a litter of beagle puppies was whelped at the shelter;
3:55 p.m.: vandalism, Main Street, a resident came to the station to report vandalism to her vehicle, the responding officer reports the complainant said that her van was keyed on the sliding door while parked at a Main Street parking lot between 2:15-2:45 p.m.;
5:25 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Cycle Street a patrol officer reports he encountered a vehicle with revoked registration and seized the plates
5:47 p.m.: arrest, Westfield Police Department, a detective reports he became aware that a person he had dealt with recently was the subject of two outstanding warrants and he called the woman to advise her to come to the station to turn herself in, Samantha L. Liptak, 30, of 100 Whitaker Road, came to the station and was arrested on the warrants;
6:27 p.m.: arrest, Otis Street, a caller reports a male party who had been staying with her had been stealing and is no longer welcome, the caller said that the man came to her home seeking his belongings which she had put on the porch but said her landlord discarded the property, a second caller said that he got a court order to retrieve his belongings but has found them to be missing, the responding officer reports the man was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Michael Bracey, 42, of 7 Free St., was arrested on the warrant;
10:16 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road Department store reports two persons are opening merchandise with a knife and concealing items, the responding officer reports an employee said that a suspect had been seen removing a video game and a BB pistol from packaging and concealing the items on his person, the employee pointed out the man in the parking lot and the officer found him to be in possession of a knife and a video game, the officer reports he found a realistic looking BB pistol under the vehicle the man was next to and the suspect admitted discarding it, Alejandro Cigarroa, 37, of Riverdale St., West Springfield, was arrested for shoplifting by concealing merchandise;
10:44 p.m.: liquor law violation, Arnold Street municipal parking lot, the community policing supervisor reports that he encountered liquor law violations, the officer reports three city ordinance violation citations were issued;
10:51 p.m.: liquor law violation, Church Street, a community policing officer reports a liquor law violation, the officer reports a city ordinance violation citations was issued;
10:56 p.m.: liquor law violation, Washington Street, a patrol officer reports he saw 15-20 college aged youths in the police department parking lot who dispersed when they saw him, the officer reports he observed one youth discard a can of beer and confronted and identified the youth, the officer reports a city ordinance violation citation was issued and the youth was advised to find a better location to drink alcohol than the police department parking lot;
11:25 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Mechanic Street, a community policing officer reports he observed a male party urinate in public, a city ordinance violation citations was issued;

1:49 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a male party urinate in an Elm Street doorway, a city ordinance violation citations was issued;
2:08 a.m.: assault, Jefferson Street, a caller reports excessive noise, a responding officer reports he was approached by a tenant who said that he had been assaulted, the man told the officer that when he saw police arrive he urged the guests to exit via a rear door and while doing so one man repeatedly punched his face for no apparent reason, the man said that he was not injured and does not wish to pursue criminal charges, a search of the area did not yield a suspect;
2:42 a.m.: vandalism, Pochassic Street at Montgomery Road, a patrol officer reports he observed that eight concrete blocked were found to have been knocked out of a wall around a rotary traffic island;
7:22 a.m.: breaking and entering, Shaker Farms Country Club, a caller reports the country club was broken into overnight, the responding detective reports that perpetrators physically battered their way through a door to gain access to a storage room, the detective reports that bottles of generic liquor were stolen while bottles of “high end” liquor and checks were not taken;
8:30 a.m.: suspicious activity, Gloria Drive, a caller reports hearing gunshots, the responding officer reports he encountered a male party who said that he has permission from a local farmer to shoot on his fields and said that he was shooting targets to practice fro hunting season, the man produced a valid license to carry firearms, he was advised of the complaint and said he would find a more appropriate place to shoot;
2:04 p.m.: larceny, East Silver Street, a resident came to the station to report that she believes she has located her son’s bicycle which was reported to have been stolen in May, the responding officer reports that the person in possession of the bikes said that he had bought it in July from a person well known to many city officers, the serial numbers on the bike in question revealed it to be the complainant’s son and it was confiscated, the bike was returned to its rightful owner;
4:33 p.m.: disturbance, Sackett Street, a 911 call was lost without acquiring a location but a bystander subsequently called to report a female party was locked out of her apartment, the responding officer reports the woman said that her boyfriend locked her out after he assaulted her and showed the officer bruises, the officer reports that the male party was uncooperative and resisted his efforts to take him into custody, Anthony J. Montagna, 41, of 6 Sackett St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship and for resisting arrest;
5:54 p.m.: larceny, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports her medication was stolen, the responding officer report the woman appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and said that she had been visiting at a neighbor’s apartment when an unknown person stole her medication from her purse, the woman showed the officer an empty bottle of pain relieving medicine;
7:42 p.m.: arrest, Ethan Avenue, officers learned that a known person was the subject of an outstanding warrant and sought him at his last known address, the officers report the man answered the door, Jesse Morgan McClenahan, 30, of 3 Ethan Ave., was arrested on the warrant without incident;
9:03 p.m.: suspicious person, Stanley Park, 400 Western Ave., a resident came to the station to complain that a couple tried to break into her vehicle, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had been sitting in her SUV watching her children play when she heard someone tug on her rear door, the woman said she exited her vehicle and confronted a couple at the rear of her vehicle who walked away;
9:33 p.m.: assault, Oaks Trailer Park, 401 Southampton Road, a caller reports he was assaulted by a known person, the responding officer reports the caller said that he had been watching a ball game and drinking with a friend when the man started punching his face for no apparent reason, the officer reports there was no answer at the suspect’s door and a criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed;
11:03 p.m.: assault, Southampton Road, a caller reports she was sitting in a bar when she was pulled from her chair by a customer, the responding officer reports the caller said that a known woman grabbed her hair and pulled her from her chair onto the floor before immediately leaving, the officer reports the suspect was sought at her vehicle’s registered address but was not found, a criminal complaint was filed;
11:33 p.m.: burning complaint, St. Paul Street, a caller reports a neighbor with a bonfire is disturbing his peace, the responding officer reports the resident said that he was celebrating his 30th birthday with friends, the man was advised to extinguish the fire and turn off his radio.
