12:41 a.m.: disturbance, Phelps Ave., a caller reports neighbors are engaged in a domestic dispute, the responding officer reports a resident allowed him entry and walked away, the officer found three other persons in the residence and one said that she had confronted the first woman earlier because she had reportedly pushed a friend and the woman assaulted her so she fought back, the woman the officer was speaking with said that a friend had to separate her from the other woman who is a relative, a witness supported the woman’s account, Jill Sampsel, 47, of 23 Clinton Ave., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
8:36 a.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller reports his radio was stolen from his porch, the responding officer reports the caller said that he left his radio on the back deck and it was gone when he returned, the officer reports the man lives in a supervised housing situation and the staff may have security video which may be reviewed;
9:20 a.m.: vandalism, Security Manor, 47 Broad St., a caller reports his vehicle was vandalized, the responding officer reports the man said that a side window was smashed and the windshield was cracked overnight, the victim told the officer that nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle;
9:33 a.m.: assist other agency, Hillside Road, a warrant of apprehension was issued by Westfield District Court, the responding officers report the subject was transported to the court without incident;
9:53 a.m.: disturbance, Kasper Drive, a caller reports she was pushed down a set of stairs, the responding officer reports the woman said that while she was at her son’s residence his girlfriend pushed her down stairs, the officer spoke with the other woman who denied pushing the woman and said that the caller had confronted her in the bathroom when she came to deliver her boyfriend’s son and struck her face three times, the officer also spoke with the second woman’s daughter who said she was in the residence and heard the women arguing but said that her mother had not pushed the other woman, the officer advised each woman that she could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court if she chose to;
10:20 a.m.: fire, Western Avenue, a caller reports wires are burning on a utility pole, the responding firefighters report the G&E was on the scene working on the problem which apparently originated when a large hawk was electrocuted;
11:22 a.m.: animal complaint, Toledo Avenue, a caller reports a stray dog with an injured leg, a responding animal control officer reports she took custody of the shepherd dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
1:51 p.m.: suspicious person, Elm Street, a caller from an Elm Street bank reports that a person attempted to impersonate a customer to withdraw funds, the responding officer reports the suspect was found outside the bank and detained while he spoke with the caller who told him that staff had been advised of a person who made a fraudulent withdrawal at another branch, the teller said the suspect had been recognized from the photo which accompanied the warning and her withdrawal form was not honored, the suspect admitted to the officer that she did not have permission to make withdrawals from a relative’s account, the account owner confirmed that the suspect was not authorized to access the account, a criminal complaint for attempting to commit a crime was filed;
1:54 p.m.: identity fraud, East Silver Street, a resident came to the station to report that she attempted to open a cable account and was denied because there is an existing account in her name in Springfield, the woman said that because of the address she suspects that the account was opened by a relative with whom she does not speak, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
2:08 p.m.: disturbance, Joseph Avenue, a resident came to the station to report he is the victim of elder abuse, the responding officer reports the man said that his son is verbally abusive of him and he wants him evicted, the officer advised the man that his son cannot be summarily evicted as he is an established resident, the man was advised of his protective order options which he declined to pursue;
2:10 p.m.: larceny, Airport Drive, a caller reports scrap metal was stolen from his company yard, the responding officer reports the caller said that scrap metal valued between $1,200 and $1,500 was stolen overnight, the man said that the theft must have required at least two persons and two pickup trucks, the caller also said that an employee was terminated in the past few weeks;
3:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Washington Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating with an expired inspection sticker and stopped the vehicle on Washington Street, the operator said that she left her license at home and a routine check revealed that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked due to lack of insurance, that the operator’s license was suspended and that she was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Janet Fong, 46, of 71 Woodmont St., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, for operating a motor vehicle with revoked registration, for operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker, and on the warrant;
5:43 p.m.: animal complaint, Stanley Park, 400 Western Ave., the animal control officer reports he took custody of a stray brown pug dog;
6:43 p.m.: assist citizen, Murphy Circle, a resident came to the station to request assistance gathering some possessions from a Murphy Circle address, the responding officer reports services were rendered without incident;
7:47 p.m.: loitering, Park Square, a caller reports two youths are riding their bicycles on the new granite at the park, the responding officer reports he advised the boys to stay on the paths to avoid damage to the new structures at the Green;
8:06 p.m.: officer wanted, Morris Avenue, a resident came to the station to report the violation of a harassment protective order, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the defendant of the order was seen putting a note in her mailbox two hours after she was served with the order, the responding officer reports the defendant said that she had placed the note a week earlier, Karissa L. Beaudry, 21, of 168 Elm St., was arrested for violation of an harassment protective order;
9:17 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a resident came to the station to report his car stereo was stolen while he was inside a gas station, the responding officer reports the man said that he left his vehicle at the pumps and was inside the gas station for less than 15 minutes before he returned to find a door of the vehicle open and somebody had tried to pry the stereo from the dashboard, only the face mount of the stereo was stolen;
9:28 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Street, a caller reports her adult brother is intoxicated and verbally abusive, the responding officer reports family members directed him to the man and he saw him discard something as the officer approached, the item was found to be an ice pick the man said he was carrying to protect himself, the man was obviously highly intoxicated and was placed in protective custody;
10:19 p.m.: breaking and entering, Greenwood Street, a caller said that his house was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that his job takes him away from the city for lengthy periods and he keeps valuables at his brother’s residence for safe keeping, the man said that upon his recent return he found that property valued at more than $2,700 was missing, the man said that a neighbor told him that he had observed a known person removing property from the residence, the victim said that the person referenced knew where the property was kept and knew that he was out of the city, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
11:53 p.m.: disturbance, Mechanic Street, multiple callers report a loud college aged party has spilled on to the street, the responding officer reports he observed 30-40 youths in the area of Mechanic Street at Thomas Street, the officer reports his attention was drawn to a young man holding a shopping carriage over his head when the youth threw it down in the street with a crash, David D. Russo, 20, of 176 Heather Hill Lane, Goffstown, N.H. was arrested for disturbing the peace, the party was dispersed.
