12:41 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop for speeding, the operator’s license was found to be suspended, a criminal complaint was filed and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
11:11 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Street at Springdale Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a motor vehicle towing a vehicle without safety chains, a citation was issued;
4:17 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Jefferson Street at Madison Street, a patrol officer reports a citation was issued for operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker, a registration plate found in the back seat was seized for return to the Registry of Motor Vehicles;
5:15 p.m.: suspicious activity, Turnpike Industrial Park Road, a caller reports two male parties may be attempting to steal scrap metal and described a pickup truck which may be involved, the responding officer reports a truck was stopped and found to be unregistered, the occupants unloaded scrap metal before the truck was towed to the police impound yard, the officer reports he spoke with a supervisor at the relevant business who said he did not know if anyone was authorized to take scrap metal, the company management declined to pursue criminal charges and will deal with the issue internally;
7:48 p.m.: trespassing Cross Street Playground, patrol officer reports a trespasser on the ball fields, the officers report four persons who were metal detecting claimed to have verbal permission to do so, the persons were advised that written permission is necessary and they left the area.
