7:47 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Fair Lane, an officer detailed to follow up on unpaid city ordinance violation citations reports an offender who was cited for unregistered vehicles on her property has not responded to a letter sent to her which offered her a last chance to pay the fine so a criminal complaint will be filed;
10:52 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Jefferson Street, an officer detailed to follow up on unpaid city ordinance violation citations reports an offender who was cited for littering has not responded to a letter sent to him which offered him a last chance to pay the fine so a criminal complaint will be filed;
12:07 p.m.: larceny, Campanelli Drive, a trucking company representative came to the station to report that an empty trailer parked at the warehouse was stolen, the responding officer reports an incident report was filed;
12:13 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street supermarket reproofs two persons believed to have shoplifted from the store in the past are again loading a cart with meat and shrimp, the responding officer reports he was told that when accosted the suspects abandoned a cart loaded with merchandise valued at $541 and fled, the suspects were located in the parking lot and neither had sufficient funds to pay for the meats they had selected, Pablo Martinez, 48, of 52 Sterling St., Springfield, and Rachel A. Johnson, 38, of no fixed address in Springfield, were each arrested for shoplifting by asportation and larceny of property valued less than $1,200, see story in the Tuesday, Oct. 30 edition of The Westfield News;
12:33 p.m.: found property,Northwest Street,Feeding Hills, a South Hadley resident came to the station to surrender a phone found on Northwest Street in Feeding Hills, the responding officer reports the owner could not be immediately contacted and the phone was stored for safe keeping;
1:07 p.m.: traffic violation, Elm Street, a supervisory officer reports he observed a motorist make an unsafe lane change and stopped the vehicle, the operators license was found to have been suspended, William N. Blais, 27, of 11 Fred Jackson Road, Southwick, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for an unsafe lane change;
1:20 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller reports that merchandise was stolen from a truck while a delivery was being made, the responding community policing officer reports that video evidence shows a known person taking cartons of cigarettes from the truck, the CPO reports the suspect was found at his last known address and most of the stolen property was recovered, the suspect made restitution for the unrecovered merchandise.
