2:09 p.m.: animal complaint, Ely Street, an animal control officer reports she took custody of a stray cat and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
4:59 p.m.: animal complaint, Court Street, an officer reports two dogs found running loose in the area of Baystate Noble Hospital were transported to the station for transfer to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
5:15 p.m.: breaking and entering, a caller reports her former boyfriend entered her apartment and stole property, officers were dispatched to speak with both parties to investigate the complaint;
7:48 p.m.: officer wanted, East Main Street, an off duty officer reports he believes he has seen suspects from a previous counterfeiting incident in a supermarket, the suspects were identified and taken into custody, Cheyenne Lynn Palen, 19, of 41 Lakeview Terrace, Derby, Conn., and Jason Santos, 35, of 653B Osage Lane, Stratford Conn., were each arrested on charges of possession of 10 counterfeit notes, uttering a counterfeit note and larceny of property valued less than $1,200, see story in the July 14 edition of The Westfield News;
8:13 p.m.: found property, Springfield Road, an Agawam resident came to the station to surrender a wallet found on Springfield Road, the owner of the wallet was identified but the officer was unable to immediately contact the owner;
10:14 p.m.: breaking and entering, Harrison Avenue, a caller reports that while she was in another room someone entered via her kitchen door, the woman said that she initially assumed it to be her husband returning home but she investigated to find lights on in the kitchen but nobody there, nothing was immediately found to be missing, a short period later the caller’s son returned home and described a man seen coming from the direction of his home, an area search revealed the suspect, Stephen J. Barry, 59, of 128 W. Silver St., Westfield, was arrested for breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony.
