SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Police Department is once again receiving reports about scam artists that are targeting senior citizens.

On Friday afternoon, the police department issued a statement indicating that scam artists are calling senior citizens and telling them that they’re representatives from Medicare and requesting personal information in an effort to steal their identity.

According to Southwick Police, Medicare informs them that they will never call their clients in order to acquire any information about them and only correspond through the postal system.

The police always want to make sure that all citizens are aware of these scams.

“Remember this, that if you’re not sure if you should give the caller information, if in doubt don’t give it out,” said Southwick Chief of Police Kevin Bishop.

If anyone is receiving these scams or any other types of scams, contact the Southwick Police Department at 413-569-5348.
