MILFORD – Westfield Post 124 committed eight errors in the second round of American Legion Baseball tournament action, falling to host Milford 7-4 Sunday.
Milford jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs – only two of which were earned – in the second inning. Westfield actually outhit the competition, 8-5.
Kyle Murphy (3-for-3), Nate Barnes (hit, RBI), Rob Sullivan (RBI double), and Connor Sas, who had a two-out, two-run single to cut his team’s deficit to 6-4 in the fourth inning, provided the bulk of the offense for Post 124.
Westfield pitcher Matt Plasse provided two solid innings of relief, allowing no hits and one unearned run. Plasse has still not allowed a hit in the postseason, pitching superbly in three relief appearances.
Post 124 next takes on the winner of the Berkshires versus Holden Tuesday night at a time to be announced.
