Predawn Takeoffs at Barnes Air National Guard Base

WESTFIELD – Two F-15C’s from Lakenheath Air Force Base in England will be taking off from Barnes ANG Base in the early morning hours of April 21, 2017.

In a statement from the ANG, “We do not want to alarm the residence (sic) around the local area of Westfield who may be startled by the increase in aircraft activity during the morning hours.”

With a 24/7 alert posture, the Airmen of the Barnes ANG could respond to an airborne threat at any time. The men and women stationed at Barnes protect one quarter of the nation’s population and over one third of the its Gross Domestic Product.

“We often do not have the luxury of advance notice, however, when we can prepare we will try to share as much information as we can.”
